How can the efficiency of flotation processing of complex ores be improved?
Flotation beneficiation plays a leading role in the processing most ores. The efficiency of this process is ensured by the correct selection of operating modes, which involves choosing the most selective reagents and determining their optimal consumption. The conducted research, presented in the journal Mining Science and Technology, allowed to find a new methodological approach to the study of ore flotation beneficiation using ionometry methods. The data obtained from ion-selective sensors significantly deepen our insight into the transformations occurring during the flotation process and allow for consideration of possible adverse factors that hinder effective process progression. A universal flowchart for flotation studies with ion-selective sensors has been developed, facilitating the application of this approach to various ores. The implementation of the results from this comparative analysis has led to a 7.8% increase in beneficiation efficiency while reducing reagent consumption. Additionally, the insights gained into the electrochemical processes occurring allowed for assumptions about the adverse factors affecting flotation outcomes. In conclusion, a model for the potential application of this approach at existing enterprises was proposed, including the implementation of an βintelligent assistantβ for flotation operators based on the developed electrochemical models.

We present the articles of the fourth issue of scientific journal "Mining Science and Technologyβ (Russia) for 2024:
This study presents the first analysis of the key interrelated technical characteristics of industrial ball mills, including drum volume, diameter, rotational speed, ball load, total weight, and drive power, enabling a more substantiated approach to selecting technical parameters and operational modes. The installation of a permanent vibration control system on ball mills used for grinding mineral raw materials required the individual determination of technical condition category thresholds for the motor, gear-shaft, and drum. The category thresholds were determined individually for each shaft using statistical classification, under the assumption that coupled components are in a state influenced by the energy potential of damage during staged progression. Standard 'reference' ratios of vibration values across three mutually perpendicular directions were established. Characteristic patterns and sequences of damage progression were identified based on the direct spectra of vibration velocity and acceleration. During the analysis of vibration signal time series, a beat frequency mode was detected, indicating potential damage development within gear elements. Effective informational support for the operational condition of ball mills is achieved through the analysis of overall vibration levels, direct trends in vibration velocity and acceleration, time series of the vibration signal, and both long-term and short-term trend analyses. Vibration velocity trends provide insights into technical condition by assessing operational stability, startup frequency, and maintenance intervals.

π₯ How does the detonation velocity of explosives affect rock fracturing?
In quarries for building stone extraction, up to 30% of the rock turns into fines after blasting and crushing, reducing economic efficiency. One of the key factors is the prefracture zones formed during explosive detonation.
π¬ What was studied?
1οΈβ£ Explosive detonation velocity (ranging from 2 to 5.2 km/s).
2οΈβ£ Stresses in the rock mass during blasting.
3οΈβ£ Microfracturing using X-ray microtomography.
π Results:
βοΈ The size of the prefracture zone increases from 33R to 77R (where R is the charge radius) as detonation velocity rises.
βοΈ Microfracture density (N) depends on the distance from the charge:
β’ Near zone (10R): from 5,000 to 13,800 pcs/cmΒ³ (exponential growth).
β’ Far zone (70R): from 0 to 200 pcs/cmΒ³ (linear growth).
π‘ Practical conclusions:
β‘οΈ Using explosives with reduced detonation velocity minimizes prefracture zones and decreases fines yield.
β‘οΈ Optimizing blasting parameters allows controlled rock fragmentation and increases the output of marketable fractions.

We present the articles of the first issue of scientific journal "Mining Science and Technology" (Russia) for 2025:
Scientists have developed a mechatronic system for testing gearboxes in mining shovels. The mechanical transmissions of hoist and drag winches, as well as crowd mechanisms, operate under extreme variable and shock cyclic loads, requiring strict quality control. The new test bench performs running-in and acceptance testing of gearboxes under conditions closely simulating actual operation. It supports testing for various shovel models including EKG-8US, EKG-10, EKG-12K, and others. The system uses DC motors (350 kW and 560 kW) and standard transistor converters with PWM control. The software, based on the "Pulsar-7" diagnostic system, provides manual and automatic control, multiple loading modes (constant, variable, cyclic), automated test reporting, and excavation cycle simulation. A mathematical model was developed in Simulink to simulate the running-in process. The test bench has been successfully implemented in industrial applications.
