A meaningful comprehension of Ashura cannot be achieved without studying the enemies of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him). After all, one side consisted of people who competed with one another in shedding Imam Hussain’s blood as a way to draw closer to their perceived God.


🔎 To truly comprehend Ashura, we must go beyond the surface and delve into the deeper layers of the personalities of Imam Hussain’s enemies.


📖 It is essential to understand the enemies of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) so that we are not mistakenly counted as being among them. We must ensure that our ethics and behavior do not mirror those of Umar ibn Sa'd's army. Recognizing the opposing forces to Imam Hussain helps us clarify our stance: are we on the side of Hussain or Yazid?

⁉️Question: Why and based on what evidence is Ali (peace be upon him) called "Farooq" and the distinguisher between truth and falsehood?

❕Answer: The reason is the narrations from the Holy Prophet of Islam, which many Sunnis have confirmed and discussed in their sources. Some of these narrations include:

🔵The Prophet said: "Soon after me, a trial will arise. If that happens, you must stay with Ali ibn Abi Talib because he is the first to see me and will shake hands with me on the Day of Judgment. He is with me in a high and lofty rank. He is the distinguisher between truth and falsehood."

🟢The Prophet said: "Indeed, Ali is the first to believe in me and the first to shake hands with me on the Day of Judgment. This Ali is the great truthful one, and he is the Farooq of this nation who distinguishes between truth and falsehood."

🔵The Prophet said: "Ali is with the truth, and the truth is with Ali wherever he moves." Or another saying: "Ali is with the truth, and the truth is with Ali (peace be upon him). Ali (peace be upon him) moves towards the truth, wherever the truth moves."

🔵From these two hadiths, it can be inferred that the one who is always with the truth, or the truth is with him, is also the criterion for distinguishing the truth.

🟢The Prophet said to Ammar: "If all people go one way and Ali alone goes another way, follow the way Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) goes. O Ammar, be independent of all people because Ali (peace be upon him) will not turn you away from the path of guidance and will not lead you to destruction and misguidance. O Ammar, obedience to Ali is obedience to me, and obedience to me is obedience to God." (This statement of the Prophet was the reason Abu Ayyub did not pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr.)

🌥 Ignorance: The Core Issue of Imam Hussain’s Enemies
People often ask, "Why did Imam Hussain  rise up" The answer is clear: when people are willing to let anyone occupy the caliphate of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), when they cling to their worldly desires at the expense of higher truths, and when Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) sees the clouds of ignorance overshadowing their lives, obstructing the light of truth; this is when he resolves to sacrifice the blood of his heart to nourish the tree of Islam.

🔑 Ignorance: The Master Key to the Downfall of Imam Hussain’s Enemies
Some keys unlock only a single door, but a master key can open countless ones. Ignorance serves as such a master key, opening the gateway to every form of evil and misfortune. The greatest flaw of Umar ibn Sa'd’s army was precisely this ignorance and their inability to comprehend the truth.

❓What is meant by ignorance?
Ignorance here does not mean a lack of information or knowledge. Ignorance stands in opposition to wisdom, not knowledge. Many individuals are well-learned and posses information, yet their beliefs, ethics, and actions remain ignorant. Umar ibn Sa’d was well-acquainted with Imam Hussain, and when he was asked to fight against him, he spent a sleepless night, struggling with inner conflict.

📝 #Lesson | Choosing Between Light and Darkness

🔹Inside the mother's womb, the fetus exists in complete darkness. If you were to out your hand on their eyes and ask what it is, they would say:

"I don't know."

You explain to them:

"These are eyes, meant for seeing. You are going to see the world with them, in your next life outside the womb."

They laugh at you and say,

"Leave it. No one has ever returned from there. I only need to grasp onto the umbilical cord, that's all I need. That's my everything."

Their contentment lies in holding onto the umbilical cord - their lifeline. However, that cord must eventually get cut off, so they can be fed through a new way. This example signifies the continuation of the journey towards Allah. After death, the means of sustenance will evolve. your feeding path will change.

🔸Exactly, if you have too much attachment to that umbilical cord, it will kill you as you approach your birth. Some get suffocated with the umbilical cord. Some people get strangled or ensnared by their worldly attachment in life, but they don't realize it. Existence of Light is necessary in such cases.

🔹But now imagine someone who hasn't forgotten his fetus times, and remembers the environment of the mother's womb well, and even after venturing out and seeing the light, enjoying the freedom of movement, running, hearing, yet he prefers to return into the mother's womb and chooses the darkness. Such a person's situation is horrifying. They actually love the darkness.

🔶The End Result of Ignorance...

If a person becomes ignorant, they can easily become a soldier working for free for the enemy. Muawiyah also used the strategy of keeping people ignorant to solidify his own rule and that of his son Yazid. He had kept the people of Sham so uninformed that when they heard that Ali (PBH) had been martyred in the mosque, they asked in surprise, "Did Ali even pray?"

🌍Some may think that those times of ignorance are over, that it is now the 21st century and the age of science and technology. If only that were true, but the reality is that ignorance still casts its dark shadow over humanity.

☀️ Imam Baqir (PBH) was right as always when he said:
"Another ignorance is on the way. Ignorance has not yet lifted its dark shadow from humanity, and we must wait for the master of the world, Mahdi the son of Fatima (Peace be upon her), to come and place his hand on humanity. It is the hand of the grace of Mahdi (PBH) that perfects intellects, and it is the light of Mahdi (PBH) that dispels darkness and illuminates the world with his Hussein like light.

◾️Until the sunrise of Mahdi (PBH), we must seek help from the light of Hussein (PBH) to dispel the dark clouds of ignorance. We must be careful not to destroy with sin the heat that the martyrdom of Hussein (PBH) has created in our hearts. In short, we must hold the hand of Hussein (PBH) and follow the path of servitude alongside him, otherwise, like the ignorant people of Kufa, our feet will be dragged into the market of worldly affairs, the selling of religion, and so on.

🔹There are some undesirable qualities within us that are difficult to eliminate. But each time we emerge victorious over them, the next victory becomes easier for us. We learn to confront our ego. Envy can affect both you and me. All of us possess a certain level of envy. Envy is a very frightening quality! Satan was envious; Shimr was envious; those who stood in front of the Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) were envious.

🔸Sometime you envy someone insignificant like me, and that doesn't matter much, ultimately a calamity may befall you. But there may be a time when you envy someone dear and loved by God,. That could have dire consequences! May God show mercy upon you! It is as if you are a negative number, manipulated into the positive number of that person. For example, if you envy someone whose rate is 10, your rate become -10. There may be a time when you envy Imam Hussain (PBUH), you become negative Imam Hussain; you become Shimr!

🔹Now we want to combat this envy. How to eliminate it? To combat envy, we must show respect to the person we envy. By doing so, we feel discomfort and burn from inside, but our Ego gets trained and fixed. After some time, that quality will be like a wet clay that is loose and can be washed away. Ultimately, you reach a point where you see that the envy in you has almost disappeared entirely.

The Debate Between Imam Jawad (peace be upon him) and a Renowned Scholar

🔹During the era of Ma'mun, the Abbasids selected Yahya ibn Aktham, one of the most distinguished scholars of his time. known for his expertise in various disciplines, particularly Islamic jurisprudence.

🔹Despite his vast knowledge, he lacked spiritual depth and was known for his arrogance. Ma'mun, eager to assess Imam Jawad’s wisdom, arranged a debate. As the gathering commenced, Yahya turned to Ma'mun and asked, “May I pose a question to this young man?” Ma'mun replied, “Seek his permission yourself.”

🔹Yahya then requested Imam Jawad’s permission, and the Imam calmly responded, “Ask whatever you wish.”

🔹Yahya posed his question: “What is your ruling on a person in a state of ihram who hunts an animal?”

💠 Imam Jawad (peace be upon him) responded with a remarkable array of distinctions: “Did the person hunt inside the sacred precincts (Ḥaram) or outside (Ḥill)? Was he aware of the prohibition or ignorant of it? Was his act intentional or accidental? Was he free or enslaved? Young or old? Was this his first violation or had he done it multiple times? Did he hunt birds or non-birds? Were the animals small or large? Does he persist in such actions, or does he regret his deed? Did the hunt take place at night or during the day? Was he in ihram for Umrah or for Hajj?”

🔸 The complexity and depth of the Imam’s response left Yahya utterly bewildered. His confusion was evident, and he began to stammer. Those present immediately recognized his inability to engage with the Imam on this intellectual level. Witnessing this, Ma'mun remarked, “I praise God for granting me the confirmation of my thoughts.” Turning to his relatives, he asked, “Do you now understand what you once denied?” Then, addressing the Imam, he said, “Well done, O Abu Ja'far! May God bless you.”

📃#Shiism |The Intellectual Movement of Imam Baqir PBUH

▪️ To justify its rule, the government fabricated hadiths, paying figures like Zuhri to spread them. Imam Baqir PBUH took direct action.

▪️ He chose Medina as his base and skillfully expanded His movement to Kufa and Iraq. The people there either loved Ahl al-Bayt or followed them for political reasons, yet rational discourse and Shi'a theological foundations had not taken deep root. Imam Baqir PBUH recognized this void and began His work in this region.

▪️ First, He focused on teaching the basics of faith; Islam’s essence and Muslim identity, a believer’s duties and skills in intellectual reasoning and contemplation. Later, he developed key theories on Imamate which is an immensely significant contribution

▪️ He firmly opposed exaggeration and extremist factions, correcting their deviations. Without His intervention, Shiism might have taken a path like Christianity today. #ImamBaqir PBUH structured and solidified Shia doctrine.
