Applications are being accepted for the "International Competition for Local Historians working with Youth"

Children under 18 years of age, citizens of Russia residing within its territory, compatriots living abroad, as well as foreign citizens studying Russian language, Russian history and culture are invited to participate.

The competition themes include:
- "History and Ethnology of the Homeland";
- "Cultural Uniqueness and Heritage of Small Homeland Peoples";
- "Monuments of History and Culture of My Region";
- "My Region - the Land of Labor Valor and Glory";
- "Tourist Trails of the Homeland";
- "Famous Countrymen - Figures of Science, Culture, Art";
- "Archaeological Heritage of the Homeland".

The competition is organized by the Russian Historical Society and the "History of the Fatherland" Foundation.
Applications are accepted until June 30.

Large-scale festival "Kirillo-Belozerskaya siege" was held in the Vologda region

➡️More than 200 Russian reenactors recreated the historical events of the siege of the monastery by the Polish-Lithuanian invaders in the 17th century.

For two days, the guests of the festival were transported to another era 🤩 and learned everything about that time thanks to horse performances, costume shows, traditional cuisine.

Also, a medieval fair, archery and historical fencing tournaments were held for visitors. And everyone could get acquainted with the life of warriors in a special camp near the walls of the museum-reserve.

Масштабный фестиваль «Кирилло-Белозерская осада» прошел в Вологодской области

➡️Более 200 реконструкторов России воссоздали исторические события осады монастыря польско-литовскими захватчиками в XVII веке.

На два дня гости фестиваля перенеслись в другую эпоху 🤩 и узнали все о том времени благодаря конным представлениям, костюмированным шоу, традиционной кухне.

Также для посетителей прошли средневековая ярмарка, турниры лучников и по историческому фехтованию. А познакомиться с бытом воинов все желающие могли в специальном лагере возле стен музея-заповедника.

Memorial march took place in Kolkata

On the eve of the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, Russians and Indians marched through Kolkata.

The campaign, held on May 5 on the territory of the Russian House, was attended by families of Russian compatriots with children, the youngest of whom is not yet a year old, and Indian graduates of Russian universities.

The participants of the action shared stories about the fate of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, about their military journey. As part of the procession, a 5-meter St. George ribbon was solemnly carried in memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

Потомки победителей прошли маршем по Калькутте

В преддверии 79-й годовщины Дня Победы россияне и индийцы прошли маршем по Калькутте.

В акции, проведённой 5 мая на территории Русского дома, приняли участие 18 человек - семьи российских соотечественников с детьми, самому младшему из которых нет ещё и года, и индийцы-выпускники российских вузов.

Участники акции делились рассказами о судьбах своих дедов и прадедов, об их боевом пути. В рамках шествия была торжественно пронесена 5-метровая Георгиевская лента в знак памяти о подвиге советского народа в Великой Отечественной войне.

Under the banner of Victory: "St. George's Ribbon" campaign was held in Kolkata

On May 10, students of the Russian House in Kolkata joined the global campaign "St. George's Ribbon". In memory of the Soviet heroes of the World War II, they unfurled a 5-meter St. George ribbon and performed the famous song “Katyusha” in Russian language.

📕The Foundation for the Study of Historical Perspective presented books in Russian and English about the events of the Great Patriotic War:

📝 "Miracle in the East. Western war correspondents report" is a collection of materials and articles by war correspondents of English and American media - "Time", "Newsweek", "New Your Times", "Chicago Tribune", "Washington Post" - during the Great Patriotic War, translated into Russian.

📖The English version of the book - "Miracle in the East: Western war correspondents report. 1941-1945" - is presented as a multimedia electronic project.

Along with texts by famous Western authors, it contains photo, video and audio files related to the events of the war years described by journalists. Among them are Winston Churchill's speech on support for the USSR on June 22, 1941, the radio show "The Last Days of Sevastopol", a report by a BBC correspondent from besieged Stalingrad and others.

"Our task, our duty, our obligation to history and to those who died then is not only to defend this Victory, but to proudly carry its banner. Returning stolen meanings is a very important task," emphasized the President of the Foundation Natalia Alekseyevna Narochnitskaya.

The publications were published with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives as part of the grant project "Returning Stolen Meanings. The Truth about the Great Patriotic War in the English-Language Press of 1941-1945".
