Is the electric car a modern invention? Not really. In Russia, the first domestic electric omnibuses were created in the beginning of the 20th century.
Russian engineer Ippolit Romanov invented a special separate drive for driving wheels, thanks to which electric cabs could bypass gasoline-powered cars. The charge of capacious batteries lasted up to 100 hours, and the power reserve of the electric car was almost 65 km. The electric bus could accelerate to 37 km/h. It was this omnibus model that became the progenitor of the trolleybus.
In November 1932, the first route from Tverskaya Zastava to the village of Vsekhsvyatskoye was launched in Moscow (now the Sokol metro station). Each trolleybus had soft seats, luggage nets and even heaters. The Moscow trolleybus was conceived as a suburban transport, but Muscovites liked it so much that it was also allowed in the central regions.
In 2018, electric buses replaced trolleybuses on metropolitan routes: now there are a thousand of them in the city, and they travel on 72 routes. The Moscow electric bus meets the highest safety and environmental standards. It is designed for 85 passengers, equipped with climate control and video surveillance systems, media screens and USB slots for charging mobile devices are installed in the cabin.

Peter the Great created the Russian Empire, so he turned out to be the last tsar of All Russia and became the first All-Russian Emperor.
Peter I was a great commander, diplomat and strategist who managed to bring Russia to a new stage of development. He created a regular army and navy, moved the capital to St. Petersburg, divided the country into counties and provinces. Peter I won for the country access to the Baltic, Azov, Caspian and Black Seas, and made Russia a great player in the international arena.
One of the first important reforms of Peter I in the field of science and education was the approval of a new civil alphabet with simplified lettering. Huge changes have taken place in the Russian economy during the years of his reign. Manufactories, metallurgical, mining plants and shipyards appeared.

On August 25, after a large-scale reconstruction, the Saur-Mohyla Memorial will open in Donbas
In 2022, the Russian Military Historical Society and the Military Construction Complex of the Russian Ministry of Defense took up the restoration of the complex. In the shortest possible time, 4 historical reliefs, a 36-meter stele and a 9-meter figure of the Soldier of Victory were recreated.
The Saur-Mogila monument is a symbolic place. It is located on the mound of the same name - one of the heights of the Donetsk Ridge, for which fierce battles were fought in 1943, during the Nazi invasion. In memory of those heroic events in 1967, a memorial complex appeared here. It was badly damaged by shelling by Ukrainian nationalists in 2014.

В 2022 году восстановлением комплекса занялось Российское военно-историческое общество и Военно-строительный комплекс Министерства обороны России. В кратчайшие сроки были воссозданы 4 исторических рельефа, 36-метровая стела и 9-метровая фигура Солдата Победы.
Памятник «Саур-Могила» — знаковое место. Он расположен на одноименном кургане — одной из высот Донецкого кряжа, за которую в 1943 году велись ожесточенные бои. Online Olympiad on history and culture of St.Petersburg 🇷🇺
From January 16 to April 6, the Online Olympiad on the history and culture of St. Petersburg will be held.
Schoolchildren and students aged 14-18 from state and non-state educational institutions in Russia and foreign countries are invited to participate.
Winners and prize-winners are determined in three groups: students from St. Petersburg, from various regions of Russia and from foreign countries. They will be awarded diplomas. All students who complete the tasks of the three rounds will receive a certificate of participation.
The language of the Olympiad is Russian. Participation is free.

Large-scale festival "Kirillo-Belozerskaya siege" was held in the Vologda region
➡️More than 200 Russian reenactors recreated the historical events of the siege of the monastery by the Polish-Lithuanian invaders in the 17th century.
For two days, the guests of the festival were transported to another era 🤩 and learned everything about that time thanks to horse performances, costume shows, traditional cuisine.
Also, a medieval fair, archery and historical fencing tournaments were held for visitors. And everyone could get acquainted with the life of warriors in a special camp near the walls of the museum-reserve.

Memorial march took place in Kolkata
On the eve of the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, Russians and Indians marched through Kolkata.
The campaign, held on May 5 on the territory of the Russian House, was attended by families of Russian compatriots with children, the youngest of whom is not yet a year old, and Indian graduates of Russian universities.
The participants of the action shared stories about the fate of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, about their military journey. As part of the procession, a 5-meter St. George ribbon was solemnly carried in memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

В преддверии 79-й годовщины Дня Победы россияне и индийцы прошли маршем по Калькутте.
В акции, проведённой 5 мая на территории Русского дома, приняли участие 18 человек - семьи российских соотечественников с детьми, самому младшему из которых нет ещё и года, и индийцы-выпускники российских вузов.

On the eve of the 79th anniversary of Victory Day, Russians and Indians marched through Kolkata.
The campaign, held on May 5 on the territory of the Russian House, was attended by families of Russian compatriots with children, the youngest of whom is not yet a year old, and Indian graduates of Russian universities.
The participants of the action shared stories about the fate of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, about their military journey. As part of the procession, a 5-meter St. George ribbon was solemnly carried in memory of the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

В преддверии 79-й годовщины Дня Победы россияне и индийцы прошли маршем по Калькутте.
В акции, проведённой 5 мая на территории Русского дома, приняли участие 18 человек - семьи российских соотечественников с детьми, самому младшему из которых нет ещё и года, и индийцы-выпускники российских вузов.

Young Russian compatriots from the "School of Historians and Archivists" visited the Federal War Memorial "Pantheon of Defenders of the Fatherland".
👍 The children learned the history of the creation of the largest war memorial in Russia, delved into the biographies of people significant for the history of Russia, such as Aleksey Arkhipovich Leonov and Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov, and also laid flowers at the memorial to the unknown soldier.

📝 "Miracle in the East. Western war correspondents report" is a collection of materials and articles by war correspondents of English and American media - "Time", "Newsweek", "New Your Times", "Chicago Tribune", "Washington Post" - during the Great Patriotic War, translated into Russian.
📖The English version of the book - "Miracle in the East: Western war correspondents report. 1941-1945" - is presented as a multimedia electronic project.
Along with texts by famous Western authors, it contains photo, video and audio files related to the events of the war years described by journalists. Among them are Winston Churchill's speech on support for the USSR on June 22, 1941, the radio show "The Last Days of Sevastopol", a report by a BBC correspondent from besieged Stalingrad and others.
"Our task, our duty, our obligation to history and to those who died then is not only to defend this Victory, but to proudly carry its banner. Returning stolen meanings is a very important task," emphasized the President of the Foundation Natalia Alekseyevna Narochnitskaya.
The publications were published with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives as part of the grant project "Returning Stolen Meanings. The Truth about the Great Patriotic War in the English-Language Press of 1941-1945".
