🇮🇷 🇷🇺🇺🇦 Several sources have reported that Russian troops have started using the Shahed-238, a jet-powered version of the well-known Shahed-136/Geran-2 UAV. This conclusion was drawn based on photographs of debris allegedly found in Ukraine after one of the recent raids by the Russian Armed Forces.

The advantages of the Shahed-238 over its predecessor are clear - the turbojet engine allows for a higher flight speed, making it difficult to intercept using small arms and cannon weapons. The trade-off is a higher cost and a slightly shorter flight range.

📌 Regardless of whether the new Iranian drone was used in the recent Russian strikes or not, it is important to understand one thing clearly: neither the new Shahed nor other products of the Iranian (or Korean) military-industrial complex are miraculous weapons. It is illogical to believe that their introduction will lead to more intense fighting.

However, they can indeed enhance the strike capabilities of the Russian Armed Forces. Of course, this requires proper utilization and the allocation of sufficient forces and resources to destroy specific targets.

🇷🇺⚔️🇺🇦 The "Zelensky Peace Plan" is failing: a secret meeting between Ukraine, the "Big Seven," and several global South countries discussed the Ukrainian "peace formula," according to Bloomberg.

Although all participants acknowledged Ukraine's right to self-defense and territorial integrity, the meeting did not yield significant progress.

"Attempts by allies to garner support for the Kiev approach are failing," the Bloomberg added.

During the meeting, Ukraine and its allies continued to resist calls from "Global South" countries to engage directly with Russia.

The National Security Advisors' meeting took place on December 16 in Riyadh, with high-ranking officials from India, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey present. However, China, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates did not even send representatives.

Ukraine will soon have another opportunity to negotiate with these countries at a meeting in Davos.

🇧🇦🇺🇸🇷🇸 Two US fighter jets flew over Bosnia on Monday in a gesture of support for the country on the eve of a parade planned by the Serb population of Republika Srpska.

The U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo said that the flight by the F-16 planes was a joint training exercise with Bosnian forces, as well as a “demonstration of US commitment” to ensuring Bosnia’s territorial integrity in the face of “secessionist activity”.

The jets flew over the north-eastern towns of Tuzla and Brčko but could reportedly be heard in Banja Luka, the Bosnian Serb capital to the west, which will be the focus of today's planned commemorations marking the 32nd anniversary of the proclamation of Republika Srpska.

🇷🇸 Day in history. Creation of the Republika Srpska

On January 9, Republika Srpska, an entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, celebrates two holidays - St. Stephen's Day and Republika Srpska Day. The latter is a stumbling block for both Sarajevo and the West. At the same time, the Bosnian Serbs themselves emphasize that they want peace and respect for their own rights within the framework of the Dayton Peace Accords, which put an end to the bloodshed in BiH in 1995.

How did the holiday come about?

On January 9, 1992, the Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RSBiH) was proclaimed, and the Constitution of the state was adopted in February of the same year. According to the main law, Serbian autonomous regions, communities and other ethnic Serb lands in Bosnia and Herzegovina were declared the territory of the republic. At the same time, RSBiH was declared part of the Yugoslav federal state.

After Bosnia and Herzegovina declared independence from Yugoslavia on April 5, 1992, RSBiH declared its separation from BiH and remained part of Yugoslavia. On August 12, 1992, the republic began to be called simply Republika Srpska.

ℹ️According to the Dayton Peace Accords of 1995, the entity retained its name, losing part of the territory controlled by the Serbs at that time.

➡️The fight for the right to celebrate Republic Day

On September 25, 2016, a referendum was held on the territory of the Serbian entity, during which residents supported the decision to celebrate January 9 as Republika Srpska Day within BiH. Prior to this, in November 2015, the Constitutional Court of BiH issued a verdict according to which part of the law “On RS Holidays” was declared unconstitutional. It was specifically about Republika Srpska Day.

Thus, government agencies in BiH officially prohibited Serbs from celebrating the date due to its coincidence with the Orthodox holiday - St. Stephen's Day, which allegedly infringes on the rights of other religious groups. This frankly provocative act was fully supported by Washington and Brussels.

The High Representative is waging a special fight against Republika Srpska Day. Christian Schmidt has already called on the police and competent authorities of BiH to punish officials who are involved in organizing the “unconstitutional” holiday.

However, despite this, the Bosnian Serbs do not give up the fight for their rights. The celebrations began the day before - a festive ceremony was held in Banja Luka, the main events are taking place today.

🇷🇸 The celebration of the Republic of Srpska Day began with laying wreaths at the Memorial for fallen soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Srpska at the "Sveti Pantelija" Cemetery and the Fallen Warriors Square of the National Liberation War in Banja Luka.

"In this way, we honored the memory of those who sacrificed the most precious thing they had—their lives—for the foundation of our freedom and the Republic of Srpska," said Željka Cvijanović, a Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH.

Yesterday, there was a solemn reception in Banja Luka, and today, a military parade and concert are expected. Despite threats from the high representative, the United States, and Sarajevo, no one plans to abstain from Republic Day.

❗️ 🇷🇺 🪖 New command, old problems: about the Dnepr group of troops

After Colonel General Oleg Makarevich took over as commander of the Dnepr group of troops back in November, we examined the challenges inherited by Colonel General Mikhail Teplinsky. It has been two months since then, and we can now evaluate the changes and remaining issues.

The situation along the left bank of the Dnieper River in the coastal zone has relatively stabilized. During the beginning and middle of autumn, Ukrainian units frequently launched attacks on settlements near the river. Although the enemy is still present in Krynki, the settlement has been turned into a sort of "corral," diminishing the offensive capabilities of Ukrainian formations (including their "elite" units), although not without losses on the Russian side.

Local commanders have altered their approach to engaging units in assaults, although not completely. Suicidal orders like "recapture the Antonovsky Bridge at any cost" are no longer heard. Instead, flexibility and reasonable ingenuity have taken precedence to preserve the lives of personnel. However, it should be noted that these changes were not brought about by favorable circumstances.

❗️However, there are still numerous problems, and in some cases, the situation has even worsened.

⛔️ The air defense situation in the Kherson region is a matter of great concern. Over the past six months, the problem of repelling mass attacks by UAVs, missiles, and rockets has been addressed on a national scale and in specific areas. While there are resources available in the Kherson region, their utilization is hindered by various bureaucratic issues.

As a result, enemy planes and helicopters have become increasingly audacious, occasionally flying over Krynki and launching attacks on rear areas using guided and unguided missiles. Unfortunately, our forces have been unable to shoot them down because they are awaiting permission. To approve a target within the group, whether it is an air defense missile system position or a concentration of personnel, a slide with photo or video evidence and coordinates must be presented. Ultimately, everything depends on when the headquarters considers the information and makes a decision, which often becomes irrelevant. On some days, the number of targets can exceed a dozen. Unfortunately, on January 6, we personally witnessed how the process of coordinating a fire strike involving 5 armored vehicles, 7 self-propelled guns, and 2 tanks on the right bank of the Dnieper took half a day, only for the information to leak completely to the enemy, rendering the targets irrelevant.

⛔️ There is also a lack of electronic warfare equipment. We are unsure of the reasons, but the troops have electronic warfare systems (although not enough for everyone, efforts are being made to address this issue). Ukrainian drones operate on frequencies that are no longer a secret, and a significant number of Ukrainian Armed Forces drones fly over Russian military personnel on the front lines.

⛔️ The human factor remains the most challenging aspect. While it is possible to gradually equip the front line with various weapons and systems, dealing with the rigid thinking of decision-makers is more difficult.

Until officers understand and realize that implementing fire strike plans or relying on slide-based reporting and decisions days after the fact are not applicable in wartime, we will continue to face recurring situations.

🇬🇧 In Britain, another "act of the Marlezon Ballet" is underway in the fight against illegal migration: this time, the government of the country plans to negotiate an agreement with Turkey to deport Turkish illegal immigrants.

Apparently, the prototype for this agreement will be a similar deal with Albania, which was signed in December 2022 and reportedly led to a 90% reduction in the number of Albanian migrants. It is likely that Ankara will expect visa benefits for its citizens in response.

📌 The number of Turkish nationals who arrived in the UK in less than 2023 is 2,499 people, while in 2022 there were half as many - 1,127. Turks are the third largest nationality among migrants who crossed the English Channel by boat.

Of course, after the agreement is signed, the government in London will, according to the proven scheme, announce a significant decrease in the flow of illegal immigrants from Turkey, presenting it as another victory for the Conservatives.

It goes without saying that all of this is nothing more than another symbolic gesture to voters. There will be elections in the UK in the fall, and the ruling authorities are very interested in pretending to have achieved progress in this field.
