🇨🇳🇺🇸 On China-NATO relations after the Washington summit
NATO continues to label China. If at the 2022 summit Beijing was portrayed as a "systemic security challenge", in the new final declaration China is also mentioned as a "decisive factor" contributing to the conflict in Ukraine.
And although China has not yet been declared a threat in the documents, the wording used can be considered a serious shift in NATO's approach to China. This is reported by colleagues from the Asianomics channel, citing excerpts from an article in the Singaporean newspaper Lianhe Zaobao.
▪️The new NATO declaration can also be considered a diplomatic victory for the US. The Alliance has always been cautiously critical of China due to the importance of the country for European powers. But now the Alliance's position is similar to the American one. This may lead to an increase in NATO activity in the Asia-Pacific region.
However, the countries of the region are still doubtful about such changes. A vivid example is the absence of Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the recent summit. He attended two meetings since 2022, but in 2024 the Australian Defense Minister went instead.
🔻Many see this as Canberra's reluctance to spoil relations with China. The lack of a unified position among NATO partners in the Asia-Pacific region may hinder the Alliance's efforts to expand contacts in the region.
In any case, as the author of the article claims, the relationship between NATO and China is already controversial. The trend towards deepening their differences will continue to develop.

On August 23, NATO command announced the raising of the security level at the Geilenkirchen air base to "Charlie", meaning there was a threat based on intelligence data. Subsequently, the threat was lowered to "Bravo+", but aviation in Germany was still dispersed.
Six NATO E-3A AWACS aircraft were transferred to the Rygge air base in Norway and Konya in Turkey (three each). Only four units remained at Geilenkirchen itself. Another one is in Ingolstadt, three are in Italy.
As can be clearly seen, at the slightest hint of a threat, the Alliance quickly moved strategically important aircraft to several other air bases. Moreover, part of the aviation of this type was redeployed to Italy back in 2022 as the SMO progressed.
This is indeed an important point, indicating NATO's careful attitude towards its aircraft. Of course, they presented it as routine pilot training, but nevertheless, they took precautionary measures.
🔻We are now observing the same tactic. There is a threat - the aviation is withdrawn from the strike. And this is the right and working technique. Unfortunately, it took the loss of several aircraft for this to happen, but progress is being made nonetheless.
So maybe someday we'll reach the stage where airfields and air bases will always be equipped with the necessary protective infrastructure, from revetments to the infamous hangars that are simply necessary to preserve aviation.
❗️At the same time, it is impossible not to note that in this rather straightforward way, the Alliance moved two AWACS groups closer to the northern and southern borders of Russia. Three E-3As will be able to effectively cover reconnaissance in their area on a daily basis (the average E-3A flight is 8 hours).

🇱🇻🇱🇹🇷🇺🇪🇪 About the new NATO exercise over the Baltics
While we were discussing possible threats to Russia from the Baltics, a new exercise of the North Atlantic Alliance, codenamed Rammstein Alloy, was held over the former Soviet republics.
This is a scheduled event, the purpose of which is to test the readiness of air defense assets deployed in the Baltics as part of the Baltic Air Policing mission.
The exercise took place over two days - September 30 and October 1, and involved NATO fighter jets, including the air forces of Italy, Germany, Finland, as well as a NASAMS air defense battery from the Spanish armed forces and F/A-18 fighters from Romania.
🔻The main purpose is to train and maintain the tone of NATO pilots in a crisis situation in the region. The planes maneuvered along the Kaliningrad Region, Belarus and the Leningrad Region and conditionally repelled an attack.
Exercises over the Baltics have become more frequent recently, as have sharp and loud statements from the authorities of the three republics. Estonia is the most vocal, having taken on the role of the leader in provocations towards Russia.
Recently, Kaupa Rosen, the head of the Estonian foreign intelligence service that has become a kind of meme, said that Estonians would like to see internal problems for Russia that could be achieved by defeat in the SMO.
As everyone already understands perfectly well, any exercises, especially near the borders, allow the Western intelligence to collect data on the activity of our air defense systems and other military facilities under the guise of training.

🇺🇸🏴🇪🇺 U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated at a meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels that the North Atlantic Alliance intends to increase its activity in West Africa and Central Asia.
He noted that the main focus will be on expanding measures to counter ISIS affiliates, as NATO has the capabilities to confront ISIS anywhere in the world and will continue this fight.
📌 Do you notice an established trend? Representatives of Western countries express concern about ISIS activity in the world with a frequency of once a week or two, while talking about continuing the fight against the organization.
While you can still somehow explain the situation in Syria or Iraq, Central Asia is a different story. The main message of these statements lies in intimidating the countries of the region and promoting their interests under the guise of security.
The situation in Africa is tense, but militants affiliated with ISIS operate there sporadically, and greater instability in the Sahel is caused by Tuareg rebels or Al-Qaeda units.
But there is also another trend here. NATO is increasingly interfering in other regions of the world, in addition to Europe. Previously, such attempts were observed in the Asia-Pacific region, and now in Central Asia and Africa.

🇩🇪🇱🇹🇫🇮🇸🇪 On incidents with underwater cables in the Baltic Sea
Finnish operator company Cinia reported a break in the submarine communication cable C-Lion1 with Germany, which is located near the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. The reason for the problem has not yet been named.
This is the only Finnish telecommunications cable running underwater and connecting Finland to Europe. It is about 1,200 km long and runs from the Finnish Hanko to the German Rostock.
A few hours later, Lithuanians and Swedes reported a similar incident on the NordBalt cable, which was later called sabotage. And this happened exactly where the Finnish-German cable was cut.
🔻The situation is very interesting.
The day before yesterday, we wrote that on November 18, that is, today, the NATO exercise Freezing Winds-2024 is starting in the Gulf of Finland and at the Dragsvík training ground in southern Finland, with the participation of various countries, including the USA and the UK.
The coastal area of Finland closed for training - that's where Hanko is located, the city where the telecommunications cable starts. The incidents themselves occurred near the active phase of the exercises, in which US Marines are participating.
🔻The event involves Marines from the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, US Navy from North Carolina.
In addition, from November 11 to 14, another NATO naval exercise "Merlin-2024" was held for the first time near the Swedish naval base Karlskrona, which also included underwater operations.
Of course, we won't be surprised by new outbursts about the "destructive activities" of the Russian Federation, but the situation is obvious. We're not hinting at anything, but before the explosion on the "Nord Stream", the Alliance also intensively conducted exercises in the area where it happened. Then the Baltops exercise was taking place.

🇪🇸🇷🇴🇹🇷 On a NATO exercise in the Black Sea
🔻While the world's attention is focused on Syria, the North Atlantic Alliance continues its activities for its air defense assets. Over Romania, a training exercise was held to protect airspace from enemy strikes - Russia.
▪️The actions of the Russian Aerospace Forces were imitated by Turkish F-16C/D fighters, which portrayed strikes on Romanian air bases and penetration into airspace. And they were opposed by Spanish and Greek fighters.
▪️Detection and guidance were carried out by crews of the LTR-25 radar station, which was deployed in Romania several months ago. This is a station for detecting air targets, which can reach as far as the Crimean Peninsula.
▪️The Turkish aircraft specifically flew to the western part of the Black Sea, simulating an attack from the direction of Crimea.
🔻Such exercises are necessary for NATO to study the capabilities of its own defense systems and keep pilots involved in various anti-Russian missions in shape.
But in addition, under the guise of training, NATO is studying the reaction of our air defense units and aviation. The LTR-25 radar station, as well as the onboard equipment of the aircraft, operated at full capacity, assessing our forces in Crimea.

🇷🇺🇫🇮 "Finnish Scary Stories for Naughty Children" - How to Scare Your Population with the Russian Threat
After the seizure of the Eagle S vessel, it was expected that the NATO countries would not stop there. An Estonian vessel has arrived in the Gulf of Finland, and other NATO countries have supported the initiative and intend to strengthen the naval group in the Baltic Sea.
➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖
🔻But the Finns went further. In the Finnish publication Italehti, citing "a bunch of intelligence sources," they write that Russia may attack Finland in the coming years to annex new territories.
According to the publication, the Russians plan to advance first to the Kymijoki river valley and consolidate there. After that, they will make a dash north to Puumala to "bite off" this section of territory in southern Finland and block Helsinki.
In the north, they believe, the Russian 44th Army Corps will attack the Lapland region and the Norwegian Finnmark to consolidate its presence in the northern regions of Scandinavia and gain advantageous lands in the context of the confrontation in the Arctic.
➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖
🔻Unfortunately, this is the current policy of most of Europe. Previously, such regular statements about a Russian offensive were made only by the "Baltic extinctions," who thus maintained interest in themselves in the world.
In Finland, similar politicians in character and mental abilities are currently in power, who quickly picked up the same theses as in the Baltic States. This is all needed to artificially whip up the threat from Russia and stress the population.
Frightened Finnish citizens are more manageable and will be less resistant to unpopular political decisions. Inflation, declining incomes, deteriorating quality of life, militarization - all this also applies to Finland, so such headlines will be heard more and more often.
