The Sulak Canyon is one of the most visited sights in Dagestan.
The name of the canyon comes from the Sulak River, which flows through the gorge and flows into the Caspian Sea. In the narrowest places even hydroelectric power plants were built.
Its depth is about 1920 meters. It consists of three parts, but there are no clear boundaries between them. These are the Chirkei, Miatli and Sulak canyons.
On the way to the canyon you can visit different natural sights of the republic. For example, the Chirkey reservoir, where you can swim.
You can enjoy the beauty of nature from observation platforms. However, it should be noted that it is best to visit the Sulak Canyon in spring and fall. In summer the temperature here reaches up to +40 degrees.
Scientists call this place a geological museum of the whole planet. Along it there are sediments of different historical periods. It is believed that the canyon is tens of millions of years old. It has experienced different historical processes. For example, the ice age, as evidenced by the rocky winding corridors.
According to legend, during the Caucasian War, Russian poets and writers rested here. For example, Leo Tolstoy and Mikhail Lermontov. Tolstoy's story "The Prisoner of the Caucasus" describes the local scenery.

🇷🇺 Exactly 300 years ago, on 15th of August 1723, the summer residence of Russian emperors near St. Petersburg - Peterhof was opened. This museum complex with an area of more than 414 hectares houses 33 museums and more than 150 fountains.
🦁 The most famous of them are "Samson Tearing the Lion" and "The Grand Cascade". Every year 4.5 million people from all over the world come here to admire them!
💦 The fountains of Peterhof are not just beautiful water structures. The conduit that feeds the Peterhof fountains and cascades includes two dozen kilometers of canals, locks and storage ponds, representing a real engineering miracle.
👍 According to the idea of Peter I, everything in Peterhof was supposed to serve for entertainment of guests. And today, visitors to the ensemble are waiting for labyrinths, shady parks and cracker fountains, pouring water over the walkers from head to toe. The “water road” of such fun fountains, out of compassion for tourists, is turned on for only 3 minutes a day according to the schedule.
🦆 In Peterhof you can find fountains with sound. For example, fountain "Favorite": 4 sculptural ducks quack in it, and the dog chases after them barking.

⛰ The final day of the participants' stay in Dagestan was dedicated to one of the oldest existing cities in Russia - Derbent. The children visited the architectural and archaeological complex "Citadel Naryn-Kala".
🏛 In the historical quarters of Old Derbent, the guys were inspired by the ancient unique history, the spirit of these legendary places.
⛴ At the end of the day, young compatriots visited the parking lot of a unique artifact of the Soviet past - the strike missile-carrier-ekranoplan "Lun", which is located on the picturesque coast of the Caspian Sea.
