Russian opera "Boris Godunov" opened the season at Italy's La Scala theatre
Earlier, the Consulate General of Ukraine called on the theater to "revise the program of the season in order to block any elements of propaganda." However, the next day, a presentation of the production by the Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky took place at La Scala. Earlier, the theater management stated that it had no plans to cancel Russian culture and would continue to work with Russian artists.
The premiere of the season was attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. “I love a good opera. Mussorgsky is phenomenal, Tchaikovsky is also phenomenal. So we should honor the culture” von der Leyen replied to a question about her attitude towards Russian opera.

Премьеру сезона посетили президент Еврокомиссии Урсула фон дер Ляйен, премьер-министр Италии Джорджия Мелони и президент страны Серджо Матарелла. «Я люблю хорошую оперу. Мусоргский — феноменален, Чайковский тоже феноменален. Мы должны уважать культуру», — ответила фон дер Ляйен на вопрос об отношении к русской опере.
