90th birth anniversary of a Soviet film director and a scriptwriter Andrei Tarkovsky celebrated in Kolkata
Andrei Tarkovsky is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers in Soviet and world cinema. He was born on 4 April, 1932 in Ivanovo region, Russia. His father was a poet and his mother was a proofreader.
Tarkovsky studied filmmaking at Moscow's #VGIK. Every movie of Tarkovsky is a masterpiece: Ivan's Childhood (1962), Andrei Rublev (1966), Solaris (1972), Mirror (1975), Stalker (1979), Nostalghia (1983) and "Sacrifice" (1986).
Tarkovsky was a recipient of several awards at the #Cannes and the #Venice Film Festivals. He staged the opera "Boris Godunov" at the Covent Garden theatre, London, in 1983.
Tarkovsky's theory of the filmmaking technique is an integral part of the world cinema.

The film is a biographical drama about Antonina Milyukova, the wife of the Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The main characters of the film were played by Odin Byron, Alena Mikhailova, Yulia Aug and rapper Oxxxymiron. The script was written by the director himself.

Soviet athletes understood that their victory could lead to their execution. But despite this, they did not give up and outplayed the opponent with a score of 5:3.

ENG/RUS The Russian film «The Challenge», the first ever film shot on the International Space Station (ISS), will be released in 20 countries around the world.
It tells the story of a female surgeon who goes to the ISS to save a cosmonaut. One of the roles in the drama was played by cosmonaut Oleg Novitsky.
"The film was a real challenge - for everyone who was involved in its creation. Yulia Peresild and Klim Shipenko spent 3.5 months preparing for the flight and they were 12 days in space on the ISS. The whole world followed this legendary event," said Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of Russia.
In Russia, the premiere took place on 12 April, on Cosmonautics Day.

1. The Adventures of Electronic (1979). A Soviet scientist creates a robot that is able to solve any mathematical problems, has incredible physical characteristics and does not know how to lie. And he is also an exact copy of the schoolboy Sergey Syroezhkin, who shifts his duties to Electronic. Now Sergey is completely left to himself: he goes for walks, has fun, meets with a girl. In the meantime, Electronic is more immersed in society, and begins to become a real person.

2. Tale of the Lost Time (1964). Four evil wizards decided to regain their youth. To do this, they need to find people who waste their time. But the children still have a chance to get everything back - before sunset, they must find the wizard's hut and turn the hands of the enchanted clock back.

Konstantin (Kostya) Inochkin, being in a summer camp, swam across the river and found himself in a territory forbidden to visit. For this, he was expelled by the head of the camp, Comrade Dynin. In order not to upset his grandmother, the boy quietly returns to the camp, where the pioneers secretly contain him. Together they take all measures so that the parent's day does not take place, when Kostya's grandmother is supposed to come to the camp.

Костя Иночкин, будучи в пионерском лагере, переплыл реку и оказался на запретной для посещений территории. За это он был изгнан начальником лагеря товарищем Дыниным. Чтобы не расстраивать бабушку, мальчик незаметно возвращается в лагерь, где пионеры тайно содержат его. Вместе они предпринимают все меры, чтобы не состоялся родительский день, когда Костина бабушка должна приехать в лагерь.
