🔴 I suggest to visit one beautiful place on the way from Moscow to Europe.
Nikolsky Cathedral

Nikolsky Cathedral, or Novo-Nikolsky, is the main architectural symbol of Mozhaisk, made in the Russian Gothic style

Earlier on this place was the Kremlin, which in the XII century was a wooden fortification, later rebuilt in stone. Some of its elements, including the Nikolsky Gate, were used in the construction of the cathedral, begun in 1802 under the direction of architect Alexei Bakarev.

🔴 I want to introduce you to an interesting feature of Russian religious architecture. I think it is quite common in the world, but in Russia it became a striking feature.
Russian monasteries were often built with their defense against invaders in mind.
The Kirilo-Belozersky Monastery, like the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, withstood a siege by Polish troops after the reign of Ivan the Terrible, the Solovetsky Monastery was bombed by the British fleet, as was the Kola Monastery in the Murmansk region.

🔴Today I want to tell you about one cosy town on the Baltic. In principle, the entire Baltic coast is rich in old cosy towns.
But today I am inviting you to Svetlogorsk.

The town is located on the shore of the Baltic Sea, just 30 kilometres from Kaliningrad. It is a popular resort and one of the best health resorts in the country, as well as an important tourist centre of Russia.
The town is divided into two parts: one is located in a lowland by the lake, and the other on an ancient dune, closer to the sea, at an altitude of about 50 metres above sea level. The coast can be reached by cable car.

🔴 Today I invite you to take a walk around another ancient town.
Yelabuga is a city that doesn't have the hustle and bustle of a metropolis, but has a powerful energy of the past: ancient streets, temples, merchant houses, traces of the ancient Bulgars, landscapes sung in Shishkin's paintings.

Yelabuga (Chyortovo) ancient Bulgar settlement is a place with a magnificent panorama: a view of the rivers Kama, Toima and forests around. A Bulgar tower (X century), restored by the father of the artist Ivan Shishkin, has been preserved here. Nearby is a monument to the founder of the city Emir Ibrahim I.

🔴 Russia has always had people with a very broad view of architecture.
There are many architectural styles and trends mixed up in Moscow.
There is, for example, the Italian Palazzo in the centre of Moscow.

🔴 Today I am inviting you into a time machine to plunge into the 18th century.

Khmelita is the family estate of the Griboyedovs in the Smolensk region.

Alexander Griboyedov, the author of Grief from Wit, was born here and spent part of his childhood there. Today it is a state historical, cultural and natural museum-reserve.

The first thing that greets you is the old bar park. Here it is important not to make a fuss and not to break into the manor house at once. The park is a point of entry into the past, a "filter" between the hustle and bustle of the XXI century and the measured noble life. Alleys in different directions, singing of rare birds, lindens, oaks, huge ash trees.

🔴Today I propose to look at the lavish decoration of the Yusupovs' chambers.

In 1727, the old chambers were given to the lieutenant colonel of the Preobrazhensky Regiment, Prince Grigory Dmitrievich Yusupov, a descendant of the Nogai Khan. His grandson, Nikolai Borisovich Yusupov, was characterized by a high level of education, was a collector and patron of the arts.

It was to him that Alexander Pushkin dedicated the poem “To the nobleman”. It is interesting that in his childhood the poet lived in one of the wings of the Yusupovs' estate.
As usual, we wish you all good Moscow dreams!

🔴 St. Petersburg never ceases to amaze the imagination! Even cinemas here look like ancient houses in some places and medieval castles in others!

One of the oldest cinemas in the city and opened its doors on December 27, 1913. It was originally called the Piccadilly Theater.

A unique feature of this theater was the musical accompaniment of films, which was carried out by a symphony orchestra.

In 1932, the name, which seemed strange to many Petersburgers, was changed to “Aurora”.
We wish everyone good, beautiful, Peterian dreams!

🔴Today I propose to visit a suburb of St. Petersburg, - Oranienbaum - a suburb that surprises.

The city of Lomonosov. Until 1948 this place was called Oranienbaum - in honor of the palace and park ensemble of the 18th century, which is located here. There is really something to see here. I tell you why you should visit this place:

🔴 There are estates of varying degrees of destruction, which delight the eye with their architecture. But there is a place in the Ryazan region that seems to have miraculously survived the whirlwind of revolutions and changes of power. It is the von Derviz estate in Kiritsy, - an architectural treasure that has survived almost in pristine condition.

Sergei von Derviz - son of one of the richest men in the empire, Pavel Grigorievich von Derviz (builder and concessionaire of railroads, owner of huge real estate, including several villas and palaces abroad), inherited a fortune, decided to invest not in factories or banks, but ... in a dream. in a dream. To build such an estate that everyone would gasp. And they did!

🔴 Much has been written about the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, one of the largest and most important monasteries in the Russian North. There are even more photographs of him — taken day and night, from different angles, at different times and in different eras.

But I still want to talk about the monastery. It is also called “Northern Thebaida”, after the Egyptian city of Thebes. Along with Solovki, he is one of the symbols of the entire North.

I also recommend that you read interesting, though not entirely known, facts about the monastery — it is easy and exciting to read. And for clarity, you can take a look at the colorful infographic here.

🔴Quite by accident, I came across a photo of a monastery in the middle of the lake and just fell in love. It turned out that this is the Holy Vvedenskaya Island Desert, and it is located very close to Moscow — only 90 kilometers, at the very beginning of the Vladimir Region.

The Temple of All Religions in Kazan

This temple is not about prayers. Services are not held here, and believers are not gathered here. It is more of a museum, a symbol, a fantasy about world religions.

🔴 Moscow has many different architectural styles and trends in construction. You can, for example, find a piece of Italy.
Tarasov's mansion is a true oasis of the Italian Renaissance amidst the bustle of Moscow. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century: the project was ordered by Gavriil Tarasov, a Moscow merchant.

The idea was ambitious: Gabriel wanted a house that looked like a palazzo in Vicenza (a city in Italy), and architect Zholtovsky did not disappoint. He created a true Italian palace that you would hardly expect in the very center of Moscow — marble, columns, arches.

🔴 Today we will explore Russian history using the example of the Marfino estate in the Moscow Region.

🔴 Continuing our journey through Russian lands, I invite you to visit Smolensk Oblast.

The magic “Teremok” at the Flenovo estate

The atmosphere of a Russian manor house of the late 19th and early 20th centuries reigns here.

Fifteen kilometers from Smolensk is the amazing Flenovo Estate, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Smolensk region. It used to be an ordinary farm purchased by Prince V. N. Tenishev. But it was his wife, Maria Klavdiyevna Tenisheva, who made Flyonovo something more: a country school where children from peasant families could study and develop arts and crafts for free.
