The Excellence of Fasting the Month of Muharram & the Day of Aashooraa
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Shaykhul-Islaam Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhaab (d. 1206H) rahimahullaah mentions in his book ‘Aadaab al-Mashy ilas Salaah':
“[And it is from the Sunnah (supererogatory)] to fast the month of Muharram, the best of it being the ninth and the tenth (days). And it is from the Sunnah (recommended) to gather between the two of them (i.e. by fasting the ninth day and tenth day together). And everything that is mentioned regarding the day of Aashooraa pertaining to actions – other than fasting – then there is no basis for that, rather it is an innovation.”
Shaykh Abdul-Muhsin al-Abaad hafidhahullaah mentions in explanation:
1. That which indicates the excellence of fasting the month of Muharram is the narration of Abu Hurayrah radiyAllaahu anhu that he said: The Prophet sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam said: “The best of fasting after the month of Ramadaan is the month of Allaah, Muharram. And the most excellent prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer.” [Reported by Muslim no. 1163]
2. And that which indicates the excellence of fasting the tenth and ninth days of the month of Muharram is the narration of Abu Qataadah radiyAllaahu anhu that the Messenger of Allaah was asked about fasting on the day of Aashooraaa (10th day of Muharram), so he said: “It expiates the sins of the previous year.” [Reported by Muslim no. 1162]
And the narration of Ibn Abbaas radiyAllaahu anhumaa that he said: The Messenger of Allaah sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam said: “If I live until the next year, I will certainly fast on the ninth day.” [Reported by Muslim no. 1134]

In the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) many of his Companions (رضي الله عنهم) died, but he never beat himself or wailed over any of them ‼
Rather He (ﷺ) said:
"He who slaps his cheeks, tears his clothes and follows the ways and traditions of the Days of Ignorance IS NOT ONE OF US."

Bearing The Pain And Suffering Of Pregnancy
Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Sālih Al-‘Uthaymīn رحمه الله said:
“A woman must know that her rank will be elevated and her sins will be expiated for bearing any pain and suffering she may experience during pregnancy, labour, or nursing if she anticipates this from Allāh.”
[Fatāwa Nūr ‘Ala Ad-Darb, 2/22.]

MULTIPLE PROBLEMS!? - ONE SOLUTION!
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
Each night Allāh descends onto the undermost heaven when the final third part of the night remains and He says,
‘Who calls to Me, so that I shall answer him, who asks Me, so that I shall give him, who seeks my forgiveness, so that I shall forgive him?’
[Sahih al-Bukhārī 1145]
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:

Signs of Sincerity in a Student of Knowledge
أن يكون صموتًا عما لا يعنيه
That he’s silent when it comes to matters which don’t concern him
متذللًا لربه، متواضعًا لعبادته
Submissive to his Rabb, humble in his worship
متورعًا متأدبًا،
Polite and pious
لا يبالي ظهر الحق على لسانه أو لسان غيره
He’s doesn’t care whether it’s his tongue that the truth appears on or the tongue of others
لا ينتصر ولا يفخر
He’s neither looking for self victory, nor is arrogant/prideful
ولا يحقد ولا يحسد
He’s not envious or jealous of others
ولا يميل به الهوى
He’s not inclined toward his desires
ولا يركن إلى زينة الدنيا.
He doesn’t lean lean towards the adornments of this Dunya

Sheikh Sāleh al-Fawzān حفظه الله said:
النساء حواضن الرجال وقواعد البيوت،
“Women are the nurturers fosterers, rearers, educators, and cultivators for the men [for that which they produce with them (i.e., the children)], and the foundation of the homes.
فإن فسدت الحواضن فسد المجتمع كله.
So if the women are corrupted, then the society in its entirety will be corrupted.
كما قال الشاعر:
As the poet said,
الأم مدرسة، إذا أعددتها أعددت شعبًا طيب الأعراق.
The mother is a school; if you have prepared her, then you have prepared generations of people possessing integrity and uprightness.”
[التعليق القويم على كتاب اقتضاء الصراط المستقيم (٢٤٠/١)]

فإن الإنسان إذا كان لا يحضر حلقات العلم
“For surely, if the person doesn’t attend the circles of knowledge,
ولا يسمع الخطب
nor does he listen to the khutbahs (sermons) given,
ولا يعتني بما ينقل عن أهل العلم
and he doesn’t give attention to what is being quoted from the people of knowledge,
فإنه تزداد غفلته
then indeed he will increase in headlessness,
وربما يقسو قلبه حتى يطبع عليه ويختم عليه
and perhaps his heart will harden to the point where it becomes sealed,
فيكون من الغافلين.
therefore he will be amongst the headless ones.”
[مجموع الفتاوى ٣٢٤/١٢]
