Tal Tamr | Growing demands to protect the Kurdish language

The city of Tal Tamr, in Hasakah, witnessed a series of public activities reaffirming commitment to the Kurdish language, alongside clear demands for legal and institutional frameworks guaranteeing the recognition and official use of the Kurdish language in education, administration, and local institutions.

▪️ Participants stress that the Kurdish language is a fundamental right that cannot be reduced or restricted to limited classes.

▪️ Demands to guarantee the right of the people of the region to learn, administer, and access public services in their mother tongue.

▪️ Calls to enshrine these rights within clear legal and institutional frameworks, away from temporary or restrictive decisions.

Several areas in Sulaymaniyah province were targeted by a rocket attack this morning. Five rockets hit the following areas: Three rockets landed in the Zirgoizale area, one rocket landed near the village of Korke Chiya, which is part of the Sirwan sub-district, and one rocket landed between the villages of Dari Zain and Mirasi Khwaro in the Qara Dag district.

PJAK reports:

PJAK says its member Sîrwan Hebîbî was detained in a pre-planned trap by Iranian Intelligence Ministry security forces in Kamyaran, Eastern Kurdistan, on September 9.

According to PJAK, Hebîbî was subjected to torture and violence following his detention and was taken to an unknown location. The party says no information has since been obtained about his health or whereabouts.

PJAK stressed that Hebîbî was unarmed and carried no equipment, saying he was in Kamyaran to carry out his duties and organizational work.

PJAK called on the people of Eastern Kurdistan, civil activists and human rights organizations to urgently investigate his fate and take a stand.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is responsible for the life and health of our member Sîrwan Hebîbî.”
