Damascus Breaks the Agreement with SDF: Formation of “Liwa al-Quds” and Mobilization for an Anticipated Attack in Hasakah

Multiple sources have announced that forces affiliated with the Syrian interim government are forming a new military faction called “Liwa al-Quds” inside a camp known as “Al-Azraq Camp” in the al-Bab area east of Aleppo.

The formation reportedly includes Sunni individuals from Latakia province, particularly from the al-Faydh and al-Saliba areas, in addition to Sunnis from the city of Jableh.

According to the sources, recruits are being offered salaries of up to $600, paid in Turkish lira. The data also indicates that recruitment efforts primarily target individuals with bad reputations or criminal records, in exchange for the financial incentives offered.

The faction is led by a commander known as “Abu Ubaida.” So far, the third group of members arriving from Latakia province has been transferred.

Information suggests that organizers attempted to recruit young men from the Alawite community to join, but those attempts were unsuccessful.
According to the available details, the purpose of establishing “Liwa al-Quds” is to expand control in Hasakah province. In a related development, sources reported that a young man from Latakia who had been in contact with several members of the group was told that the existing agreement between the Syrian state and the Syrian Democratic Forces would end within a few days, and that they should prepare to take part in the attack.

The information also indicates that heavy weapons—said to have been previously seized from Raqqa and Maskanah—were transferred yesterday to the city of Jableh, where they were stored in facilities belonging to the group.

Regarding the situation in the village of Siheyê (Al Sayha):

About an hour ago, a robbery attempt occurred in the Kurdish village of Sîheye located opposite Al-Kharita village in the western countryside of Hasakah by armed gangs. This robbery was carried out by a group of more than ten gangs. Two days ago, 20 sheep were also stolen from the village.
