Graphics engineer found that Portal RTX isn't actually limited by Raytracing in general even on Radeon 6000 cards. So, if you guessed that the game's performance is a joke β you were right!
Instead, the game is ridiculously poorly optimized in totally different areas, so it's low performance on any GPU is kinda intentional:
There's a huge ubershader, that somehow makes way too many operations outside Raytracing pipeline. It is either a system-wise driver bug in general or API bug.

AMD announced Ryzen Z1 and Z1 Extreme for Windows and Linux gaming handhelds. AMD says the Z1 and Z1 Extreme are temporarily exclusive to Asus (ROG Ally) but that we may see other partners in the future with these or future Z chips.
It seems, that Extreme will be almost as powerful as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. So, it will be significantly faster than Steam Deck and recent models from GPD, OneX, and AYA, but the chip is still limited to 30W TDP and the limit is keeping it behind real PS5 performance.
Some more graphs in the chat!

#AMD announced FSR 3 with better consistency and frame generation:
https://gpuopen.com/fsr3-announce/
#Hardware #GPU
It's #OpenSource under MIT License and frame generation will be supported by Radeon 5700 and newer and RTX 20 and 30 series cards, unlike NVIDIA equivalent with only RTX 40 in mind.
Upscaling without generated frames will work on RX590 and GTX 10. And the implementation is promised to be easier than FSR2. MIT repository will be available next year.

When Optimisations Work, But for the Wrong Reasons
Level of detail and imposters are effective optimizations that work for reasons you may not fully understand. Let's explore why, from a hardware perspective, these work.

#NVIDIA is killing its old "control panel" with the new app: it will combine GF Experience and all settings from the panel into the new unified app.
The most valuable feature to mention is the new HDR filter that can extend almost any 3D game into HDR to use all the dynamic range of modern monitors (even outdated DX9 games are supported).
You can try the BETA now!

I haven't played games the whole summer. Valve: you have been invited to try our new game in pre-alpha! Have anyone else been invited here? #Valve #Steam #Deadlock
π₯ Deadlock just saved my GPU kinda (and this may also help you)
The game made my PC go nuts every few minutes β some fans were blowing at max speed and I thought it's CPU, since GPU can't overheat at 70, right? Wrong!
So I opened up Afterburner to use temps overlay: around 70 on both CPU and GPU, nothing unexpected. Instead, I decided to check GPU-Z that has GPU Hot Spot which was⦠105C, over 30 degrees higher than on average, on 3060 Ti with three fans. Not what I expected!
Took the cooler off, thermal compound was solid and dried out completely. Cleaned up, repasted into MX4, now the Hot Spot is only 85 while the average is about 60-65.
Which means: if Deadlock makes your PC go crazy in terms of fan speed, check both CPU and GPU, and check it with utilities that can see Hot Spot, since average can be fine. Valve know how to utilize every molecule of your GPU and it will heat it up.
