Radio Omega was ordered off the air on August 10 but has had the suspension lifted, Communications Minister and government spokesperson said.
The government “very carefully examined” the request made by the Burkinabe media monitoring centre known as OBM folloing a request by Radio Omega, he said.

🇫🇷🇲🇱🇳🇪🇧🇫 France won't cut cultural ties with Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, minister says
France does not intend to cut cultural ties with Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, the culture minister said on Friday, after entertainment businesses slammed a decision this week to ban all partnerships with artists from these African countries.
"France has always been an open and welcoming nation for artists, so this is not a shift in policy. It's an adaptation to an extremely deteriorated security context," Culture Minister Rima Abdul-Malak told.
Abdul-Malak's remarks appeared intended to defuse a confrontation with the union of artistic and cultural businesses SYNDEAC, which had demanded to meet with her after her ministry issued a directive to halt all cooperation and financial support to institutions from the three countries.
SYNDEAC had called the ban "completely unprecedented".

🇧🇫🇳🇪 Burkina Faso troops join raid on militants in Niger
The armies of Burkina Faso and Niger have killed an unknown number of militants in joint operations, local media has reported.
The attack comes a week after Burkina Faso’s parliament approved the deployment of troops to Niger in order to fight the Islamist uprising along the countries' common border.
Burkina Faso’s state-owned RTB TV channel said on Sunday that raids where launched after troops spotted “a column of terrorists” leaving Niger for Burkina Faso.
Joint forces “neutralised these attackers in pairs on 100 motorbikes and destroyed most of their logistics” in eastern Burkina Faso's Kantchari area, the channel added.

🇧🇫 Burkina Faso government says it thwarted coup attempt
Burkina Faso's military government said on Wednesday that a coup attempt had been thwarted the previous day by security and intelligence services, without providing specifics on what had happened.
In a statement it said officers and others had plotted to destabilise the country with "the dark intention of attacking the institutions of the Republic and plunging our country in chaos."
It did not identify anyone but said some arrests had been made and searches continued for others. "Investigations will help unmask the instigators of this plot," it said. The military prosecutor later said four people had been detained and two were on the run.
Thousands of pro-junta demonstrators took to the streets of the capital Ouagadougou and elsewhere to show their support, citing rumours of a brewing mutiny against the authorities.

🇧🇫 Hundreds mark one year of military rule in Burkina Faso
Hundreds of people rallied in Burkina Faso's capital Ouagadougou on Friday to show support for the ruling junta, one year after it seized power in a coup.
Supporters gathered at the Place de la Nation waving Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, Guinea and Russia flags. Some held signs with pictures of the country's young military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore.
Traore took power on Sept. 30 last year, ousting the leader of another coup who had seized power eight months earlier.
"We salute Captain Ibrahim Traore, the President of Burkina Faso, for his efforts to bring sovereignty back to the country. We are with him with all our heart day and night," said people.
Traore, 35, has gained popularity through his pan-Africanist, anti-French speeches. He has kicked out French troops and cracked down on French media.

🇲🇱🇧🇫🇳🇪 What is happening in Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger?
Situation for December 25, 2023 - January 16, 2024
Recently, radical Islamists have regained attention after the defeat of the Tuaregs in northern Mali. Clashes between militants from local branches of the Islamic State and Al-Qaeda and government forces are ongoing in the region.
Full-fledged coordinated actions and the formation of a united front against terrorists in the Sahel are still a long way off, so each side sporadically responds to militant attacks, attempting to minimize the damage.
The authorities of Burkina Faso are increasingly utilizing UAVs, acquiring Chinese weapons, and have also started organizing specially trained rapid response units.
The Mali Armed Forces, with support from the Wagner PMC, have strengthened their positions in the northeastern part of the country, enabling them to transition to clearing pockets of resistance in strategic directions.
Meanwhile, the military government of Niger and the ECOWAS countries (who seem to have already forgotten about the threats of military invasion) have begun making concessions to each other during negotiations. As a result, the government of Benin has lifted the ban on the transit of goods into the country.
Furthermore, yesterday, Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zein of Niger visited Moscow for negotiations on the development of economic and military ties between the countries.

🇧🇫 🇷🇺 Following the arrival of Russian military personnel in Burkina Faso this week, a high-ranking delegation from the Russian Defense Ministry has now arrived in Ouagadougou.
The Russian military leaders will have substantive discussions regarding the deployment of personnel, the rights and powers of the contingent, and will outline plans for future cooperation.
🔻Forecasting the timing of the expansion of the influence of the Afrika Korps in the region is a difficult task. However, considering the ongoing processes and the formalization of the presence of the Russian Armed Forces in the Sahel (which was not the case during the semi-official voyages of the "Wagner" group), along with delegations traveling from country to country, it is unlikely that this will be a short-term development.
