🇲🇦🇬🇦 Morocco said it is "important to preserve stability" in Gabon

Morocco is “closely following developments in the situation in the Gabonese Republic,” said the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a brief press release.

Morocco “underlines the importance of preserving the stability of this brother country and the tranquility of its population”, continues the press release.

Morocco trusts in the wisdom of the Gabonese nation, its strong forces, and its national institutions, to move towards a perspective allowing it to act in the best interests of the country, to safeguard the achievements made, and to respond to the aspirations of the brother Gabonese people", Ministry concludes.

Morocco and Gabon maintain close relations, notably due to the ties of between King Mohammed VI and President Ali Bongo.

🇲🇦🇩🇿 Tourists from Morocco shot dead after straying into Algerian waters on jet ski

Algerian authorities shot dead at two Moroccan tourist after a group of five strayed into Algerian waters on jet skis. Only two of the group returned home.

"They (the Algerians) - said we were fleeing but it wasn't true. We were trying to talk to them. The shooting continued, five bullets hit my brother and my friend,” said one of the survivors.

Moroccan media are reporting that one of the group was arrested by the Algerian coastguard and appeared before a prosecutor on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday after the five men lost their bearings while exploring the sea on jet skis near the Moroccan coastal resort of Saidia, on the border with Algeria.

🇨🇳🇲🇦 China to give $200,000 to earthquake-stricken Morocco

The Red Cross Society of China will give the Moroccan Red Crescent $200,000 for emergency humanitarian assistance, Chinese state media reported on Monday.

The Chinese Red Cross said the donation will be used to help Morocco carry out rescue and disaster relief work, according to the China Daily.

Chinese medical workers in Morocco have been actively helping victims, including during aftershocks, state broadcaster CGTN reported.
