International Volunteer Forum in Moscow

We are happy to announce the official opening of the application process for the major event in volunteering in Russia!

If you feel that doing volunteer work is a meaningful part of your life, that provides you with motivation, strength, renewed creativity, and vision that you can carry over into your personal and professional life, we are eager to meet you in Moscow on December 2nd-5th!

At the event you are going to visit social institutions and charitable foundations, attend hard - driving business and concert program.  Our workshops and discussions with great speakers provide opportunities for reflection, support, skill-building, and problem-solving for a wide range of topics related to volunteering.  You will get a chance to build a good contact network with volunteers from various national and international organizations!

NB. Accommodation (December 2nd-6th), meals and participation in the Forum are provided by the organizers. However, travel expenses from the place of your residence to Moscow and back are to be covered by participants themselves or by the organization they represent.

Last but not least, we're almost ready to share something really special with you all. You definitely don't want to miss this, we promise. 

Just a spoiler: 20 contestants of the upcoming volunteer challenge will be invited to the International Volunteer Forum out-of-competition! Stay tuned!

Good news for English teachers!

The British Council is happy to announce the launch of a pilot for a new platform for English teachers – Virtual Teacher Activity Group (vTAG).

The vtAG is being developed as part of the British Council programme Future English –Pathways to Excellence.

This new platform is designed to provide a networking space for English teachers in which they will be able to share experience with other teachers, take part in virtual training activities webinars, build e-portfolios, join forum discussions and develop experience in action research.

We are looking for school English teachers interested in joining our pilot in order to get their feedback on the overall experience with the vTAG.

During the pilot, teachers would be required to stay active on the platform and engage with the offer available, as well as be prepared to interact with other teachers through forums, webinars, etc.

Yenching Global Symposium 2019 for Young Professionals and Graduate Students

Description

This year, the three-day event will take place in March 2019 and will comprise engaging speakers and interactive events on the topic of Wǒmen: Retelling the China Stories. This conference will feature prominent international scholars and leading young professionals from a wide range of fields and will provide a highly focused, application-based experiential learning platform.

Eligibility

- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any field;
- Available for the entirety of the conference, March 29-31st 2019 (and available for any required travel time to and from Beijing);
- Have not attended any of the previous Yenching Global Symposiums or Yenching Social Innovation Forums;
- English Proficiency;
- Holds a valid passport which does not expire within 6 months from February 2020
- Bonus: Involvement in China-related activities – academic, voluntary, professional, extra-curricular.

Delegates selected to attend the Yenching Global Symposium will receive fully-funded travel, accommodation, and meals in Beijing for the duration of the conference.

As a delegate, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences with innovation while collaborating with others to generate fruitful exchange and construct frameworks for action on China’s most challenging issues.

If you are selected as a delegate, the Yenching Global Symposium will cover your return flight tickets, accommodation, and meals for the duration of the event.

Delegates have to bear visa expenses (if any) and are advised to carry some money for personal expenses, sightseeing, etc.

BRITISH EMBASSY INTERNSHIP VACANCY

The British Embassy in Tashkent is seeking three (3) interns to work in the Political and Public Diplomacy Section, the Commercial Section, and the Programmes Team of the mission.

Duration: 3 months (with the possibility to extend)

Start date: from 10 February 2020

🔸We are looking for people who are creative and driven and can demonstrate a range of skills. Good English, Uzbek and Russian language skills - both written and oral - are essential. The key tasks during the internship include but are not limited to:
Assisting the teams' outreach efforts by maintaining a database of relevant contacts;
Compiling monthly media searches on trade and business issues and monitoring tender opportunities;
Assisting with event planning and administration of Bimonthly Lunches for UK companies (prepare invitations, track RSVPs etc.);
Providing general administrative assistance to the Commercial Team;
Assisting in organising meetings and logistics for UK visitors;
Attending trade shows, exhibition and other trade related events in Tashkent;
Assisting with social and mass media monitoring, Public Diplomacy events, communications work;
Providing general administrative and logistical support to the Programmes Team;
Attending project events, preparing texts and creative communication materials for Embassy's social media channels about projects funded by British Embassy in Tashkent.

☝️The role requires enthusiasm, flexibility, good interpersonal and communication skills, creativity and strong teamwork. You should have strong IT skills, and able to work with minimum supervision. Good photography skills are an added bonus.

The Internship would ideally suit a 3-4 course student who is looking to gain experience in international and domestic affairs and make good use of their IT skills. You will be working in a team with local and British staff so this is a fantastic and unique opportunity to work in a native English-speaking environment. The Embassy also offers an inclusive, friendly and sociable environment.
