The Palestinian Media Forum condemns the Israeli occupation army's storming of Al Jazeera's office in Ramallah

The Palestinian Media Forum condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli occupation army's storming of Al Jazeera's office in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank and its issuance of a decision to close the office by military order, prevent the channel from operating in Ramallah, and confiscate its assets. This is considered a blatant continuation of the violation of international laws, charters, and humanitarian norms affirming freedom of the press, and a natural result of the inability and failure of the international community to curb the Israeli aggression that violated all rules of international and humanitarian law.

The flagrant Israeli violation of freedom of the press comes in the context of a long series of violations against Al Jazeera, whose office in the Gaza Strip was destroyed by the Israeli occupation, killing its correspondent Ismail al-Ghoul, its photographer Rami al-Rifi, journalist Hamza al-Dahdouh, photographer Samer Abu Daqqa, and before them colleague Shireen Abu Akleh, in addition to injuring and targeting the channel's correspondent in the Strip, Wael al-Dahdouh and Ismail Abu Omar.

The Palestinian Media Forum, while expressing its deep appreciation for the role of Al Jazeera in exposing the Israeli crimes of genocide against the defenseless Palestinian people, affirms its full solidarity with Al Jazeera and its rejection of all forms of Israeli targeting of it and its field crews. The Palestinian Media Forum calls on human rights institutions and international press unions to confront, through international courts, the flagrant Israeli violations of press freedom, especially in light of the Israeli occupation army’s killing of more than 170 Palestinian journalists since October 7, in addition to the destruction of the headquarters of hundreds of media institutions in the Gaza Strip.
