UNRWA Commissioner-General’s decision to expel agency employees is a blatant bias towards the lies and schemes of the occupation
- In a dangerous step that reflects a blatant bias towards the lies and schemes of the occupation, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini issued a decision to expel nine agency employees on the pretext of their alleged complicity in the events of October 7.
- We consider this decision not only a blatant violation of the rights of these oppressed employees, but also a green light for the Zionist occupation to implement its aggressive plans against UNRWA and the Palestinian people.
- This unjust decision is an embodiment of the Commissioner-General’s blatant bias towards the lies and schemes of the occupation, and shows a willingness to present the agency as a scapegoat to satisfy Zionist ambitions, in an attempt to legitimize any aggressive measures that may be taken against UNRWA and its employees.
- In the face of this dangerous decision, we cannot stand idly by in the face of this farce that flouts the most basic principles of international justice, which clearly shows that the charge was proven before the investigation was conducted, in flagrant violation of international laws.
- This step ignores the results of independent investigations, which confirmed the falsehood of the accusations against the employees, and demonstrated the lack of any credible evidence, results that were approved by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, which led many countries to back down from their decision to suspend their funding to the agency.
- The decision to expel these employees is a direct result of pressure from the occupation, and is part of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining UNRWA's work, emptying it of its humanitarian and legal content, or gradually reducing its services as a systematic step to liquidate UNRWA and the refugee issue.
- The Commissioner-General's statement is nothing more than blatant bias towards the occupation's agendas, and a blatant justification for any action that may be taken against UNRWA in the future.
- Accordingly, we call for an immediate reversal of this unjust and dangerous decision, and we demand that the international community and the United Nations take immediate action to stop this farce that threatens the future of UNRWA and its role in supporting the rights of Palestinian refugees, as well as violating the basic rights of employees, assaulting their dignity and falsely and slanderously turning them into "terrorists" at the instigation of the occupation and its agents.
