In a recent meeting, Nitzan Alon, the army's representative in the negotiations, informed the families of POWs that Hamas insists on the termination of the war for any prisoner exchange to take place, a condition they have maintained since the negotiations began.

He also admitted that under the current government, which refuses to end the conflict, these negotiations will not succeed.

The IDF disputed this report, stating that the representative's comments were "taken out of context".
