This is a tactic called ‘kettling’ that is commonly used by Police to encircle the protestors, suppress them, and prevent them from moving further out. In most cases, police brutality is very common where they employ tear gas, rubber bullets, batons, etc.

The first modern-era genocide Germany perpetrated was in Namibia, against the Hereros and the Namas.

Germany officially recognized the Herero-Nama genocide for the first time only in 2021 and agreed to fund 1.1 billion euros ($1.2 billion) worth of Namibian projects. The money was to be disbursed into existing aid programs over 30 years.

Too bad the he “joint declaration” between Germany and Namibia did not involve either the Namas or the Hereros. In 2023, they asked a Namibian court to declare it invalid as it contravened various articles in the Namibian constitution. If the claim is successful the agreement would have to be negotiated anew.

In December 2023, the suit was still frozen in “Status Hearing”.

So the Holocaust wasn’t their first, and it looks like it won’t be their last either.
