⚡️Syrian doctor Yasser Al-Darwish:

“I returned yesterday from Amsterdam heading to Saudi Arabia, on a trip with a transit stop in one of the Arab countries.

When I arrived, police, intelligence, and passport officers received me, only to inform me that I was banned from entry because I am Syrian.

I said: I do not want to enter the country, only to continue my journey (transit).
They said: You must book a new ticket that takes you directly from here to another country.

After a long back-and-forth, they confiscated my passport. Later, they took my phone and brought me to a room where deportees are held.

Inside, I found two young men:
one from Gaza,
and the other a student from a Muslim Central Asian country.

We understood from the officer that we would remain under close guard, not allowed to move around, and they assigned a worker to bring us food and drink at our own expense, at prices they set in dollars.

I was forced to book a new flight on Saudi Airlines directly to Riyadh and lost my previous flights.

While the three of us were detained, we saw groups of Israeli Jews moving freely in the airport.

What angered me most was being forced to delete this photo before they confiscated our phones (I later recovered it).

I spent 28 hours in a miserable room
with a heroic young man from Gaza who spoke words that angered them,

and a Muslim student from Al-Azhar.

I said goodbye to them shortly before leaving, and I do not know what will happen to them.

Throughout those hours, a police officer escorted me from one department to another. Whenever they asked about me, he would reply: ‘Deportee.’
That became my name.

When I reached the departure gate, I saw one of the Israeli Jews sitting across from me, with his sidelocks and kippah.
He spoke to me in English, asking to use my phone to call an Israeli number.
I said: No.
He said: Why?
I said: ‘Because I am Syrian…’

Time passed slowly, heavily, and fearfully, because you do not know what surprises await you.

I did not feel safe until I boarded the plane to Saudi Arabia.”

Comment: He did not mention the country, but from the photo it appears the transit location was Sharm El-Sheikh Airport in Sinai, meaning the country was Egypt.
