According to Alan Freeman, Co-Director of the Geopolitical Economy Research Institute, the session on the Russian economy at the 20th Annual Meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club was one of the most interesting.
βThe most fascinating thing was a certain degree of optimism despite the present economic warfare. The Russian economy not only survived despite the sanctions, but becomes stronger. Anyway, the speakers identified the problems. The Americans said all the time that everything Russia was doing is wrong, and now Russia is responsible for all the troubles in the world. The response should be the sense of the Russian identity, the sense of the Russian history, the sense of Russia's contribution to the world, the sense of the right direction.β
