๐ฎ๐ณ On June 9, Mr. Narendra Modi was sworn in as Indiaโs Prime Minister for a third term in a grand ceremony at the presidential palace in Delhi.
At 73, Mr. Modi became only the second leader in the countryโs history to win a third term, following in the footsteps of its first prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru.
Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs third term balances continuity and change in India's foreign policy, emphasising strategic autonomy, regional stability, and deeper engagement with the Global South.

๐ฎ๐ณ๐ India's vision for Eurasia focuses on promoting stability and peace, which are achievable through collaborative efforts to address common security threats and safeguard shared interests.
When considering India's engagement in greater Eurasia, it is vital to understand its four main priorities:
1๏ธโฃ Promoting Multipolarity
India's approach to the world is greatly influenced by the concept of multipolarity, which underscores the need for a balanced distribution of power and influence among major global players. This perspective reflects India's commitment to a fair and inclusive global order that respects different nationsโ diverse viewpoints and perspectives (especially the Global South).
2๏ธโฃ Regional diplomacy
As an emerging economic and political actor in the Indian subcontinent, India plays a crucial role in shaping the geopolitical landscape of Greater Eurasia. With its longstanding relationships with the countries of Central Asia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia countries, India has been actively engaged in regional diplomacy to promote security, stability, and economic cooperation.
3๏ธโฃ Pursuing Economic Opportunities
India is firmly committed to exploring economic opportunities throughout the wider Eurasian region. By identifying the potential for mutually beneficial partnerships and collaborations, India aims to leverage its growing economy and expanding market to further economic growth and development in the region.
4๏ธโฃ Addressing Security Concerns
In today's interconnected world, addressing security challenges that transcend national borders is imperative. Regional and global cooperation are crucial in tackling these issues. India is dedicated to actively participating in security initiatives within the Greater Eurasia region.
India should prioritise strengthening its strategic partnerships with key players in the Eurasian region, including Russia and the Central Asian countries, writes Pravesh Kumar Gupta.

๐ฎ๐ณ There are three great powers, namely the US, China and Russia in the present multi-polar world, which have between them two opposite global governance models.
These powers are responsible for shaping and stability in global geopolitics.
๐ The first model is spearheaded by the US whose strengths are military power and supremacy of the US dollar. It believes in the balance of power politics and sees security as a zero-sum game. Not reconciled to the end of unipolar world, the US, leading the Global North nations, has often bypassed the United Nations and has abandoned globalisation in favour of plurilateralism and bloc politics in the hope of winning what it believes is the new Cold War.
๐ The other global governance model supported by China and Russia is furthering the UN-based international law, equality of states, indivisible security, multilateralism and globalisation for development and prosperity for upliftment and prosperity of EMDCs.
The Indian dream of becoming a developed nation can only be realised in a collective way as part of the Global South working with Russia and China, because only this global governance model promises sustainable development, Pravin Sawhney writes.
