David’s Charge to Solomon

[9] “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

Current reading. This is a book about life of father Valery Shitsin, he was a surgeon but in 90s became a priest, was very pious.

Big impact in his life made his wife - Valentina.

She was also a doctor, but in 90s appeared to be an orthodox christian leader in her small northern town , she did a lot to ensure that there was a temple and a priest , later her husband turned to be a priest also.

I know her from big cross procession "Saint Petersburg - Ekaterinburg 2018", in honor of the Holy Royal Matyrs. She loves them. Despite her illness she was true inspiration for us.

Orthodox Christians of the 90s were very resilient and strong.
If you're a new convert to Orthodoxy in America, you should try to "sponsor" an Orthodox country sort of.

Choose an Orthodox country, it doesn't matter which one. Russia, Serbia, Greece, etc. Start learning their language. Start learning about their culture, history, customs, etc. Get in touch with people there. Plan to visit there eventually.

Doing this would only help you in becoming a more well rounded person. I know that like 90% of people would choose Russia for this, and that's fine. You all know I picked Romania. It doesn't matter which one you pick.
