so now into the 2nd week of August we’re starting to see tropical waves off of Africa that can hold together and potentially spin up, this particular one (red) is oscillating between storm & depression but is most likely going to spin off to the north & dissipate

in the last week or so the Atlantic basin has gotten more active, a few days ago Cristobal briefly spun up but was torn apart after a few hours (dry air/dust + wind shear)
there’s 3 tropical disturbances atm and the middle one (2nd pic) is the most likely to be the next named storm. still many days out most of the modeling isn’t showing much in the way of threats, will keep everyone posted 🌀
