Google is working on a UI overhaul for Android

Google is overhauling Android’s UI as part of its Material 3 Expressive design. Status bar icons (Wi-Fi, mobile data, aeroplane mode, battery) are updated, and panels have a blurred background instead of solid black. The brightness slider is redesigned, and a split Quick Settings/notifications panel might arrive later.

The blur effect also appears in the app drawer, Recents menu, and PIN screen (along with dynamic-colored dots). The date/weather placement in the lock screen is changed, and a compact notification shelf is added. Volume sliders are thinner with distinct handles, and the media switcher is redesigned as well.

The Settings app now has colourful icons, menu items within cards, and subpage arrows. Pixel Launcher has new icon shapes like “four-sided cookie” and “complex clover.”

ADVICE ALERT

try to avoid the Google Pixel 9 in ₹64,999 on Flipkart.

- Average battery life and slow charging
- Major heating issues in almost every task
- Extremely average camera for the price

Honestly, the Pixel 9 doesn't make sense even after discounts. There are just so many better options available at this price point.

AVOID.

Best Smartphone Deals in the upcoming Amazon and Flipkart sales

Under ₹10K:
POCO C75 5G: ₹7,699 (Flipkart)

Under ₹15K:

1️⃣ Infinix Note 50x: ₹10,499 [Performance, good software for the price]

2️⃣ POCO M7 Pro: ₹11,999 [display, cameras]

3️⃣ Samsung Galaxy M35: ₹13,999. Get this instead of M06/M16 and iQOO Z10x imo.

4️⃣ POCO X7/Infinix Note 50s: ₹14,999 [Both are almost equally good for cameras, XOS 15 is the better software]

Under ₹20K:

1️⃣ OPPO K13: ₹16,999 [Best all-rounder under ₹20K imo]

2️⃣ CMF Phone 2 Pro: ₹17,999 [Only for those who want stock software and 2x lens, no stereo speakers]

3️⃣ iQOO Z10/Vivo T4: ₹19,999 (Display, battery, performance. No stereo speakers)

Under ₹25K:

1️⃣ iQOO Neo 10R: ₹24,999 (Good balance of performance, battery and camera)

2️⃣ OnePlus Nord 4: ₹24,999 (Good build, good software, decent battery and cameras)

3️⃣ POCO X7 Pro: ₹22,999 (if you want a good balanced phone but budget is under ₹23K)

Under ₹35K:

1️⃣ Samsung Galaxy A56: ₹26,999 (good cameras, build, software for that price, but not the best for gaming)

2️⃣ Realme GT 6: ₹28,999 (good performance, good battery life, good cameras and fine software).

3️⃣ Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: ₹34,999 (Good all-rounder package if you can pay more from Galaxy A56)

(PS: Ideally, I would advise ₹27K-35K segment buyers to wait for one more month, new generation phones are incoming)

Under ₹45K:

1️⃣ OnePlus 13R: ₹39,999. Already a great value phone. Free Buds 3 is the cherry on top.

2️⃣ iQOO 12: ₹42,999. The 16/512 variant is a steal deal for this price. Free iQOO TWS 1e is also a good gesture.

3️⃣ Samsung Galaxy S24: ₹44,999. If you want a compact option under ₹45K, this is the one to go for. Better to stretch to this instead of getting S23 now.

Flagship picks (above ₹50K)

1️⃣ At strict ₹49,999, iQOO 13 is a better and safer choice than Realme GT 7 Pro.
Realme has practically forgotten about its flagship and iQOO is generally more reliable and more stable.

2️⃣ Between ₹55K-65K, get OPPO Find X8. There's nothing else better.

3️⃣ Above ₹65K, you can get Find X8 Pro (all-rounder with great software) or S24 Ultra at ₹84,999 (if you want the S Pen).

For iPhones, only the iPhone 16 at ₹59,999 makes sense.

Also, ₹27K-35K new options will be performance focused, so if you want good cameras, just get something within the three options I listed within this sale.

Note: Realme GT 6T is a better deal than POCO X7 Pro for ₹23,999
