Thatโs what weโre doing with the ACCC out here with PANAMAX: expanding peace through strength in our hemisphere, right here in the jungles with our partners, in a way that SOUTCOM just wasnโt doing 18 months ago.
There was a whole different set of priorities not focused on the Western Hemisphere, not focused on securing the homeland, not focused on making sure we go after drug traffickers and designated terrorist organizations.
Under President Trump, we know exactly what that mission looks like.

Today, we launched the motto of the ACCC, which is "We do bad things to bad people."
For too long, bad people did bad things to good people inside the United States of America and across Central and South America.
We are going to empower great Americans and great partners to do really good stuff and be very capable at bringing violence against drug cartels and designated terrorist organizations because we're dead serious about securing the homeland.
We will not allow foreign malign influence to take over key terrain, like the Panama Canal.

It is night and dayโgo talk to anybody who looked at SOUTHCOM.
I was not joking when I talked about what the priorities were. It was gender issues, climate change, and diversity. It was like USAID, but with some guns.

Foreign nationals paid six facilitators as much as $100,000 to arrange marriages with U.S. citizens, who were paid up to $30,000 to participate. Those involved allegedly then helped the couples file paperwork with the Department of Homeland Security to secure lawful permanent residency.
Authorities say the operation arranged around 1,000 fraudulent marriages over roughly a decade. Attorney General Todd Blanche described it as "one of the largest marriage fraud prosecutions in U.S. history."

The situation for Ukraine in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast is reaching a critical point...
Russian forces have continued their new cross-border offensive operations, which seem to be aimed at encircling a large Ukrainian grouping in the northeastern corner of Kharkiv Oblast.
As a result of recent advances, they captured the villages of Artilne, Ustynivka, Ivashchyne, Anyshchyne, Shevyakivka, Zybyne, Karaichne, Vilcha, Lyman, and Volokhivka, and are now engaged in fighting for Volokhivske, Zakharivka, Ivanivka, Vasylivka, Vodyane, Vilkhuvatka, Dovzhanka, and Kupyne. Forward assault groups from the two pincers are currently just 8 km from cutting off the large Ukrainian salient.
However, the main target of this offensive may be the town of Prykolotne, which hosts the main highway intersection, and is responsible for most logistics in this sector. It's fall would make defending the Bilya Kolodyaz direction much more difficult.
Currently, a large grey-zone remains in many areas, and there is still an opportunity for Ukraine to stabilise the situation. But, if nothing is done soon, they may be forced to withdraw from this large salient to avoid being encircled.
Over a year ago, I outlined this area as having potential for unusually large Russian advances. And it appears we may be seeing this materialise now.

The U.S. has long miscalculated due to intelligence failures. Case in point: The war on Iran. Now, an even bigger miscalculation on the Strait of Hormuz.
Worse than fake news is fake intelligence. Be careful.

According to Lebanonโs civil defense, fires have become one of its main operations since the June 17 ceasefire, with an estimated 30โ40% of land in some areas near the frontline affected.
Civil defense officials say Israeli drones have repeatedly dropped munitions into wooded areas, sometimes reigniting fires after firefighters had extinguished them. The fires have damaged forests, olive groves, and agricultural land.

Japanese researchers estimate the seabed contains more than 16 million tons of rare earths, including critical heavy elements such as dysprosium, terbium, yttrium, and gadolinium. The yttrium deposits alone could reportedly cover 780 years of global demand, while samples contain little radioactive material compared with many land-based deposits.
Japan plans a month-long full-scale extraction, refining, and smelting test in February 2027, followed by a commercialization assessment in 2028. A future system could extract around 3,500 tons of seabed mud per day. Tokyo expects about $5.7 billion in public and private deep-sea resource investment through 2040, while U.S. firms including Deep Reach Technology have shown early interest.
The project remains extremely difficult: pressure at 6 km is around 600 times atmospheric pressure, commercial development could cost billions and take more than a decade, and extraction may cost roughly three times more than Chinese land-based mining, alongside environmental concerns.
The project has also become strategically important as China controls around 90% of global rare-earth supply and has restricted exports. Chinese survey vessels have operated near Minamitorishima, and a Chinese aircraft carrier entered its EEZ in June 2025. Japan has since strengthened the remote island with a Type 12 anti-ship missile launcher, electronic warfare equipment, and a ScanEagle II drone while considering additional radar, runway, and harbor infrastructure.
If successful, Minamitorishima could become Japanโs only rare-earth mine and help the U.S. and Japan establish a closed-loop โmine-to-magnetโ supply chain independent of China, although commercial production is unlikely before Trump leaves office.

Under the proposed law, the BND could sabotage weapons, replace bombs with dummies, delete computer data, and conduct other operations to prevent attacks against Germany or allied countries. In extreme emergency or wartime self-defense situations, agents could also use โkinetic means,โ including firearms, although targeted killings and assassination squads would remain prohibited.
Previously, BND officers sometimes had access to threats but lacked legal authority to intervene. In some cases agents knew the locations of Iranian missiles destined for Hezbollah but were legally unable to disable them, with some BND chiefs authorizing such actions anyway at their own risk. The new legislation is intended to provide an explicit legal basis for such operations.
The reform would also significantly expand the BNDโs foreign surveillance and hacking powers, including access to additional sources such as smart-home data. Foreign data collected by the agency could be stored unread for up to six months, allowing intelligence officers to examine it retrospectively.
