The Army is seeking 3,655 interceptors as the US moves to rapidly expand its missile-defense stockpiles and production capacity after years of relatively limited procurement.
PAC-3 MSE purchases declined from 328 missiles in 2022 to 214 in 2025 before rising to 320 in the 2026 request. THAAD procurement was even lower, with just 11 interceptors purchased in 2024 and 12 in 2025, rising to a planned 37 in 2026.
The Army has also more than quadrupled its overall PAC-3 MSE acquisition objective, increasing it from 3,376 to 13,773 missiles.

Earlier today, CENTCOM forces disabled the steering gear of Panama-flagged M/V Vela Nova as the cargo vessel attempted to transit the Gulf of Oman and violate the U.S. blockade against Iran by sailing toward an Iranian port.
A U.S. Navy MH-60 helicopter fired two hellfire missiles into the Vela Nova’s engine room after the ship’s civilian crew ignored repeated warnings from American forces.
