After diplomatic contacts between Saudi and U.S. officials, MBS spoke with Trump on Friday and requested backing for military action against the Houthis, which Trump granted.

The confrontation began after a Mahan Air aircraft landed in Sana'a and transported a Houthi delegation to the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei — the first such Iranian flights to the city in more than a decade.

The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declare to all: Cooperating with the aggressor enemy, which arrives from afar to violate the rights of the region's people, and crossing the designated route will result only in regret, losses, and delays in the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, precipitating a global energy crisis.
