Representatives of the Russian House in New Delhi visited the International School "Sancta Maria" in Faridabad.
The Russian House has been closely cooperating with the school for a year now and the results of the cooperation are already noticeable: the children were invited to the film screening "Cheburashka", which was held in the Russian cultural center, and they were noticeably impressed by the Russian film. Also, as part of the trip, the staff of the Russian House attended a Russian language lesson together with a Russian compatriot, a teacher of Russian language Natalia Marochkina. The children began to study Russian in July, but the results are already noticeable: they can pronounce simple phrases, maintain a simple dialogue.
During the lesson, the children learned about the Russian writer L.N. Tolstoy. This experience shows that Indian schoolchildren are very interested in learning the Russian language. There are many such schools with which the Russian House in New Delhi maintains close contacts, in the future close cooperation is also planned with them, where the Russian language will be taught.

The winners of the unique "All-India Translation Contest" were awarded at the Russian House in New Delhi. The ceremony was timed to coincide with the 226th anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

The project was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of India, the Institute of Translation and the Union of Translators and Russianists of India.

The participants of the competition presented translations of Sergei Alekseev's story "Brest Fortress" into six languages of India, demonstrating deep respect for historical memory and a high level of proficiency in the Russian language.

The project was discussed by the head of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India Dr Elena Remizova, the chairman of the Union of Translators and Russianists of India Dr. Sonu Saini, the director of the Institute of Translation (Moscow) Mr. Evgeny Reznicenko, the head of the Russian Language Centre of Jawaharlal Nehru University Prof. Kiran Singh Verma and a lecturer of Jawaharlal Nehru University Prof. Ranjana Benerjee.

Particularly important is the fact that all ten winners of the competition are young Russianists from all over India, who translated the story "Brest Fortress" into six Indian languages. This indicates a growing interest in modern Russian literature in India among the young generation of Russianists.

The Bangalore City University held a ceremonial opening of the Russian Language Centre, timed to coincide with Russia Day. This event was the result of agreements reached during the visit of the Russian delegation headed by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India Mr. Denis Alipov in February this year.

Opening the Russian Language Centre in Bangalore, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of India Dr Elena Remizova emphasized that the opening of the Centre took place in a significant year — the 60th anniversary of Bangalore City University, the 40th anniversary of the Department of Foreign Languages and the 100th anniversary of Rossotrudnichestvo and public diplomacy in Russia. The Centre was created with the support of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in the Republic of India, the Sberbank Branch in India and the Russkiy Mir Foundation, which donated textbooks and fiction in Russian to the Centre.

A special contribution was the connection of the Centre to the remote access of the B.N. Yeltsin Presidential Library. This is the second such access point in India — the first was opened in 2023 at the Russian House in Mumbai. Now, students and all interested parties can use the unique resources of the Presidential Library in the south of India.

The Russian Language Centre in Bangalore will become an important platform for studying the Russian language and getting to know Russian culture. Cultural events, exhibitions, seminars and conferences will be regularly held here with the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of India.

On the opening day, a thematic seminar was held dedicated to the works of Alexander Pushkin and Kuppali Venkatappaguda Puttappa, one of the founders of the modern literary language Kannada. Ekaterina Dynyak, Head of the Russian Language Centre at the Russian House in New Delhi, spoke about the life and work of the great Russian poet, opening up new horizons for the Indian audience.

The Centre is already beginning its active work: tomorrow a conversational course of the Russian language will start, and in August full-fledged educational programs will begin for both university students and everyone else. It is planned that studying Russian will become even more accessible for residents of the southern regions of India, where such opportunities were previously few.

A busy program lies ahead: in September and October 2025, the Centre will become a venue for traditional cultural celebrations dedicated to the birthdays of Leo Tolstoy and Mahatma Gandhi. In honor of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations, the Centre will host events dedicated to the official languages of the UN, including Russian. Cultural programs for Russian compatriots and joint New Year celebrations are also planned.

The opening of the Russian Language Centre in Bangalore is another step towards strengthening humanitarian cooperation between Russia and India and an important contribution to the development of intercultural dialogue.
