An agreement was signed in New Delhi on the creation of the Russian-Indian cultural and educational Center of L.Tolstoy and M.Gandhi on the basis of the Delhi school "Dwarka." Her partner will be Moscow school №1409 in the Northern Administrative District.
The agreement was concluded within the framework of the international and interregional social and cultural program "BRICS Peoples Choose Life". The Russian House in India co-organized the events of this program in the capital and Mumbai.
In the Indian capital, the document was signed by the president of the NGO“BRICS World of Traditions“ Lyudmila Sekacheva and director of Dvarka Suneeta Tanvar, in Moscow - director of school №1409 Irina Ilyicheva. The ceremony took place via videoconference.
Two great thinkers -Tolstoy and Gandhi- never met but corresponded for about a year.
The signing ceremony was crowned by a concert of students of "Dwarka" and secondary school at the Russian Embassy in New Delhi.

The Mahatma Gandhi and Leo Tolstoy Center opened at Delhi's Dwarka Public School. The partner on the Russian side is Moscow school No. 1409. In 2022, these educational institutions signed an agreement as part of the implementation of the international and interregional socio-cultural program “BRICS Peoples Choose Life.”
The opening ceremony was attended by a Russian delegation led by deputy of the Moscow City Duma, director of school No. 1409 Irina Ilyicheva. Among the guests were representatives of the Russian Embassy and the Russian House in India.
On this auspicious occasion, a concert was held at the school, where students performed several musical and dance numbers on themes of classical Indian and Russian culture. Moscow guests noted the high level of students' skills and the general organization of school life.
A return visit of the Delhi delegation to Moscow is planned for May 2024.

The exhibition “The Fabulous Miracle of Existence,” dedicated to the legends of Russia and India, opened at the Russian House in New Delhi and will run until October 20. The exhibition, in particular, tells about the Russian city of Kitezh and the mythological patrimony of Krishna, Dwarka, that both sank under the water.
The exhibition features paintings by Maxim Pridanov, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, and Indian author Aakshat Sinha, who traveled together to Lake Svetloyar in the Nizhny Novgorod region while working on the project, and 14 other contemporary Indian masters.
The exhibition is also dedicated to the Year of the Roerichs, which will be celebrated in 2024.

🏢 On May 20-27, students of the Delhi Public School, Dwarka visited Moscow School no.1409 as part of the ongoing programme ‘BRICS People Choosing Life’ and ‘Creation of Tolstoy – Gandhi Center’ which was initiated on December 13, 2022. The two schools signed an MOU on educational and cultural exchanges.
 👥 The delegation of the DPS Dwarka included School’s Principal Priya Narayan, Russian Language Teacher Monika Sharma and 19 students, and was warmly received by the Moscow’s School’s Principal Irina Ilicheva, Vice Principal Svetlana Zuckerman and its students.
🇮🇳 They were also received by Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar at the Indian Embassy in Moscow.
 🖼 As part of the cultural programme, they visited the Tolstoy Museum, the largest scientific and educational center for the study of the artistic heritage of Leo Tolstoy in Moscow, the All-Russian Exhibition Center, the Red Square and other popular attractions.
