Days of Russian language, literature and culture opened in the Russian House in New Delhi. More than a hundred Indian students from various universities took part in intellectual and creative competitions, quizzes, Olympiads in the Russian language, read poems and sang songs, and even pulled the rope. A strict jury selected the winners in various nominations - from creating a poster to creating a Russian costume. The finalists were awarded cups and certificates.
A surprise for all participants in the evening was the performance of the Moscow duet "Bohemia" - the performance of Russian folk songs, Russian and foreign hits in an amazing combination of balalaika and violin literally blew up the hall. The event ended to a standing ovation.

Russian Ambassador to India Mr Denis Alipov and Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India Dr Elena Remizova held talks with the leadership of the Bangalore Museum Chitrakala Parishath. The museum is known not only for its excellent collection of contemporary Indian art, but also for its large collection of works by Nicholas Roerich. This year, Russia and India celebrate the 90th anniversary of the signing of the Roerich Pact, the first ever international treaty on the protection of cultural heritage. In this regard, museums, research organizations and the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India are planning a number of events. Dr Elena Remizova invited the director of the museum, Dr Shashidwar Rao, to participate in a round table on the Pact, which will be held in mid-April in St. Petersburg with the support of the Roerich Family Museum, the Committee on Foreign Relations and the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. An agreement was also reached to film a documentary about the Roerich family in Bengaluru as part of the program "Sages of India", which is preparing to be shown on the TV channel "Culture."

With the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India, an international scientific and expeditionary project "Afanasy Nikitin - 550" was launched in Delhi. The goal of the project is to collect scientific and historical data on the journey of the Russian merchant. As you know, his path passed through the Caucasus, Persia, India and Crimea. Afanasy Nikitin arrived in India 30 years before Vasco da Gama and became the first European to leave notes on his stay on the peninsula, including a description of the political structure, trade, agriculture, customs and traditions of India at that time. It should be noted that the Russian merchant became the first traveler who then visited Persia, where he lived for about two years. All this makes the notes that have come down to us a unique monument not only of Russian, but also of Indian and Persian culture of the 15th century.
Expedition members - historian, member of the St. Petersburg branch of the Russian Geographical Society Mr Denis Khrustalev and head of the Dialogue for the Development of Humanitarian Cooperation public organization, member of the Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian Geographical Society Mr Ilya Bannikov, met Dr Elena Remizova, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo Representative Office in India, and Dr Farid Asr, Advisor to the Iranian Embassy in India. The parties agreed to hold a joint event based on the results of the expedition.
Also, the expedition members met the members of the Youth Club at the Russian House in Delhi - they told many interesting facts about the life and travels of Afanasy Nikitin, as well as about their scientific goals. It is gratifying that the younger generation of Indians knows about the Russian traveler, largely thanks to the classic Soviet-Indian film "Journey beyond Three Seas/Pardesi."
The results of the expedition will be included in the new edition of “Journey...”, which is currently being prepared for publication by the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

With the support of the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in India, an international scientific conference on the topic: "The concept of "Motherland" in the literary traditions of Hindi and Russian literature" was held at the site of the Hindi Department of Bharati College of the University of Delhi, in which employees of the Russian House in New Delhi and the Embassy of Russia in India took part.
Representatives of the A. M. Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Yasnaya Polyana Museum, the Museum of the East and the Roerich Museum (Moscow) also took part in the event.
This conference was devoted to examining the concept of "Motherland" as a central theme in both Hindi and Russian literary traditions.
Russian classical literature, represented by Pushkin, Lermontov, Tolstoy and others, explored the concept of the Motherland through the themes of patriotism, spiritual history and culture. In contrast, Indian literature often personifies the Motherland as a nurturing “Bharat Mata,” emphasizing its spiritual and nurturing aspects. Authors such as Tagore, Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, and Mahatma Gandhi celebrated the sacred duty of honoring and cherishing the land, viewing it as a maternal figure deserving of reverence and care. Ultimately, the concept of the Motherland in both literatures serves as a powerful tool for exploring themes of identity, sacrifice, and nationality, demonstrating the deep connection humans have with the land and its influence on our collective consciousness.

A master class by doll artist Marusya Novokreshchenova on creating traditional Russian rag dolls was held at the Russian House in New Delhi.
Russian students tried to make Russian folk figurines with their own hands for the first time. To create them, they used cotton fabric, threads and body filler. Traditionally, ash, grain, flax tow or rags were used to stuff the dolls.
Rag dolls originated from ritual figurines associated with the worship of a female deity, cults of fertility, ancestors and the hearth. Ash, grain, flax tow and rags were used to stuff the rag dolls. It was believed that such dolls brought good luck to the home and drove out illnesses. "During the process of creating dolls, we were able to relax our souls, feel the joy of the beauty born in our hands and better understand Russian culture," the Indian students shared their emotions.
