A film festival in honor of the 100th anniversary of the famous Soviet and Russian director Leonid Gaidai started in the Indian capital. At the University of Delhi, the Department of Slavic Languages organized a screening of the famous 1968 comedy “The Diamond Arm” in Russian with English subtitles.
Before the start of the session, Delhi University professor Girish Munjal spoke about Gaidai’s life and creative path, as well as how the director wittily circumvented the bureaucratic prohibitions that existed in the film industry at that time.
Russian house director Oleg Osipov urged viewers to study the Russian language more deeply in order to understand all its subtleties and, in particular, the humor of Gaidai’s films without translation. After the viewing there was a discussion of the movie.
“The Caucasian Prisoner” will be shown at the Russian House on October 11 at 3:00 p.m. as part of the festival.

Each of them has his own story, his own life path, dreams and plans. They have only one thing in common - pure, true, sincere love... for the lake. They consider it their place of power. They could have moved to a big city a long time ago, but decided to stay: some returned to their small homeland, others, on the contrary, exchanged the rhythm of the metropolis for a quiet outback.
Five heroes, five stories of aspirations and victories and one amazing lake. The film is about how local residents and those for whom this region has become a “place of power” live on a land with a harsh climate, how they pacify the elements, what they do and why they don’t leave for big cities.
One of the most beautiful documentaries this fall is a portrait of a unique water area.

“The British built railways not to make it convenient for Indians, but to carry away our wealth.” The premiere of the film “Looted India”, held at the Russian House, sparked a lively discussion in New Delhi. The documentary was produced by the Russian television company RT and was shown in Hindi with English subtitles.
The panel discussion after the screening was attended by the author of the film Artem Vorobyov, head of RT Documentary Ekaterina Yakovleva, senior adviser to the Russian Embassy Valery Khodzhaev, Indian political scientists Suvrokamal Dutta, Shashank Shekhar Sinha, Vinayak Kalletla, president of the BRICS international forum Purnima Anand, military historian Col Shailendra Singh. Indian-origin international law expert Jarath Chopra joined the discussion via video link from Canada.
The film sheds light on how Britain enslaved and plundered India and imposed alien values on the population. Much of the cultural heritage of Indian civilization was sent abroad, and much of what was exported is exhibited in the British Museum.
