On 12 April 1961, the first ever human space flight was carried out by Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet citizen. This historic event opened the way for space exploration for the benefit of all humanity.
The UN General Assembly, in its resolution A/RES/65/271 of 7 April 2011, declared 12 April as the International Day of Human Space Flight “to celebrate each year at the international level the beginning of the space era for mankind, reaffirming the important contribution of space science and technology in achieving sustainable development goals and increasing the well-being of States and peoples, as well as ensuring the realization of their aspiration to maintain outer space for peaceful purposes.”

On April 12, the TASS press-centre summed up the first results of the international Star Dictation "Let's go!".
Dmitry Polikanov, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo, noted that this year the number of participants in the dictation has increased.
At the moment, more than 24 thousand people from 62 countries have already registered at the event's website. 268 people have already managed to cope successfully with all 13 questions.
From those who will answer all the dictation’s questions correctly, 100 people will be chosen at random. They will get a poster with the full dictation’s text and an autograph of Sergey Lukyanenko, its author.

The apparatus makes a complete overview of the sky and creates a map of the Universe in X-rays with large galaxy clusters. It studies the evolution of galaxies and investigates the nature of the dark energy that is causing the Universe to expand with great acceleration. The invention weighs 2,712 kg. It was launched in 2019.

On 11 April, Russian House in Kolkata jointly with an astrophotography group "Astronomads Bangla" opened an exhibition of photographs, books and posters "Our Gagarin. The First Cosmonaut" in celebration of the International Day of Human Space Flight and to mark the 62nd anniversary of the first space flight of a human. On 12 April 1961, a Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin created a history becoming the first man to conduct a space flight. Gagarin made a full orbit on board of the Vostok-1 spaceship n 108 minutes.
Sergey Shushin, director of the Russian House in Kolkata, Maxim Aleshin, Senior Consul of the Russian Consulate General in Kolkata, S.Datta, curator of the Birla Planetarium, and Samit Saha, co-founder of the Astronomads Bangla group, inaugurated the exhibition and shared their thoughts on the importance of the milestone and other space developments, including the flight of the Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
The visitors were shown documentaries on the Yury Gagarin's flight and other space launches. The exhibition will be open to public on 11-14 April, 4 to 7 p.m.

On the International Day of Human Space Flight - April 12th, - students of the Russian language courses at the Russian House in Kolkata had a session dedicated to the first man in space - a Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin.
Students presented the demonstration on Yury Gagarin's biography and discussed the pioneers of the space exploration. Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in Kolkata, awarded students with memorable souvenirs.

Russian House in Kolkata invited young Indian artists to express their vision on space in the view of the upcoming Cosmonautics Day and the International Day of Human Space Flight, April 12. The drawing contest is being held on April 6.
Sergey Shushin, vice-consul and director of the Russian House welcomed children and spoke on the historical significance of the occasion and the importance of space exploration.
This year, the Cosmonautics Day marks the 63rd anniversary of the first human space flight, performed by a Soviet pilot Yury Gagarin aboard the Vostok-1 spacecraft. On 12 April 1961, Gagarin becamr the first human in history to reach orbital velocity around the Earth and to complete a full orbit. The flight lasted for 108 minutes.

On April 12, Cosmonautics Day, journalist Anatoly Wasserman will go live from the State Museum of the History of Cosmonautics named after K.E.Tsiolkovsky and read the dictation.
The mechanics of the educational campaign involve filling in gaps in a literary text about space, where each gap is an objective historical or scientific fact.
