🌳Kenozero National Park in the Arkhangelsk Region has become a new site on the UNESCO World Heritage List
🙌The decision to do so was made at a recent session of the organization in India. Since 2004, Kenozero has been included in the UNESCO List of Biosphere Reserves — specially protected areas for the conservation of natural resources.
📆In addition to the extraordinary beauty of the local landscapes, the national park boasts original monuments of Russian wooden architecture of the 16th-17th centuries with unique paintings.
🔱 In addition, many objects from the Neolithic era were found on the territory of Kenozero. Among them are spearheads and darts created in the period from 4-3 thousand years BC.
✍️The national park of the Arkhangelsk Region will be included in the UNESCO List under the name "Cultural Landscape of Kenozero".

How the Russians colonized America
The northwestern part of North America remained a blank spot on the world map until the first half of the 18th century, when it was discovered and explored by the Russians. It was they who began to develop this harsh and inhospitable land.
Alaska and the Aleutian Islands attracted colonists, due to their rich source of furs - the “soft gold” of that era. Of particular value were the sea otters, which were famous for the exceptional density of their fur.
The first permanent Russian trading settlement in Russian America appeared on Unalaska Island in 1772. Since then, settlements began to pop up like mushrooms and the region became a battleground between dozens of private trading companies.
At the end of the 18th century, the state began to control the entire fur business in Northwest America, establishing the Russian-American Company. Despite its name, there were no U.S. citizens in it.
The company became the state’s main instrument for colonization of Alaska and adjacent islands. Thus, its first head, Alexander Baranov, was simultaneously the Chief Ruler (governor) of Russian America.
Russia's expansion also extended to California. In 1812, Fort Ross was founded there. However, due to low profitability and high maintenance costs, this colony was sold to the Americans in 1841.
Over time, authorities realized that they could not hold Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. The Americans were constantly pressing from the south and the British from the northeast. At the same time, the Russian population of the region numbered only a few thousand people in small settlements scattered over a vast territory.
As a result, the empire's leadership decided that it would be more profitable for it to sell its North American possessions to the United States than to maintain them further. In 1867, the deal took place.
