Nerekhta is a cozy town in the Kostroma region, which in recent years has become a place of attraction for tourists and connoisseurs of architecture. “River of the Big Lake”, as the name of the city is translated from the Meryan language, continues to amaze its guests with a huge number of churches and monasteries with unique architecture.
Nerekhta is often called "the city where the soul of a Russian woman lives", because it was ruled by the wives of the great Russian princes. The dawn of Nerekhta is considered to be the 18th century. Wealthy merchants spared no expense to transform the city and turned it into Russian Jerusalem, where pilgrims from all over the country came.
The most popular among tourists are the Kazan Cathedral, the Church of the Epiphany of the Lord and the Vladimir Church. All of them amaze with their ancient architecture, patterned domes and multi-meter bell towers.

Indian photographers are among the winners of the Andrey Stenin International Press Photo Contest
Winners of the Andrey Stenin Contest have been announced and there are 3 Indian photographers among them:
- Shibashish Saha. "Evergreen smile" in the category "Portrait. A Hero of Our Time";
- Chandan Khanna with 2 works. "Ribbons of loss" in the category "Portrait. A Hero of Our Time" and "Just Numb" in the category "Series";
- Rajesh Mohan Pandey. "Cracking the Ice" in the category "My planet".
The Andrei Stenin International Photo Contest is an annual contest for young photojournalists aged between 18 and 33 years old. It is Russia’s only platform for discovering new photojournalists and for allowing them to make a name for themselves on the world photojournalism stage. In 2021 around 4500 entries from 70 countries were submitted. Since its start in 2014 the contest has been exhibiting around the world, including Moscow, Cape Town, Budapest, Madrid, New Delhi, San-Donato-Milanese, New York, Ankara, Buenos Aires and other cities.
The annual submission period starts on December, 22. The date marks the birthday of Rossiya Segodnya photojournalist Andrei Stenin, who died while on assignment and in whose honour the contest is named.

More than 150,000 young women applied to become ‘Miss Russia 2022’. The final was held in Moscow on July 25 and saw 25 finalists compete against one another. First place went to 22-year-old student of St. Petersburg university Anna Linnikova, according to the organizing committee.
