🚂#OTD August 4th, Russia and several other countries honour the workers of the steel thoroughfares.
Railway Workers' Day celebrates those whose labour ensures uninterrupted connections between cities and countries.
To commemorate this holiday, we invite you to visit two amazing museums:

🇷🇺Russian Railway Museum (St. Petersburg):
• Inaugurated in 2017, commemorating 180 years of Russian railways
• Seamlessly blends a historic locomotive depot building with a modern complex
• Houses a collection of rare and legendary locomotives and carriages
• Offers educational programs and themed film screenings

🇮🇳National Rail Museum (New Delhi):
• Established in 1977
• Proudly features a reconstructed monorail from the Patiala State (1907)
• Showcases the world's oldest operational steam locomotive, the "Fairy Queen"
• Exhibits an impressive array of bus models, diesel and steam engines

👨‍🏫Interesting fact: The total operational length of railway tracks in Russia is 122,000 km. In India, this figure stands at 63,000 km.

🇮🇳 On August 15, the Republic of India marks #IndependenceDay. #OTD in 1947 the Indian Independence Act came into being, crowning the decades of the Indian people’s hard struggle against the oppression of the British colonisers for the right to determine their own destiny.

Over the years of independence, the Indian nation has reached significant success in the economic, scientific, technical and social areas, preserving its strong identity based on the centuries-long history and rich cultural heritage.

India enjoys well-deserved authority in the world arena, playing a major constructive role in international affairs.

🤝 Diplomatic relations between our country and India were established on April 13, 1947. The USSR made a significant contribution to the industrialisation of India as well as to the development of its economic and scientific potential.

🇷🇺🇮🇳 The friendly Russian-Indian ties are based on equality, mutual respect and trust. Today, our relations can be defined as a special and privileged strategic partnership. We maintain an intensive political dialogue, and take efforts to strengthen cooperation within multilateral formats and improve trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

🎉 We cordially congratulate our Indian friends on Independence Day and wish them prosperity and well-being.

🇷🇺🇮🇳 President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin sent a message of greetings to President of India Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on the occasion of India’s national holiday, Independence Day.

✉️ Over the course of 77 years of its development as an independent nation, your country has achieved a widely-recognised track record of success in social, economic, scientific, technical affairs, as well as in many other spheres, and has earned great prestige on the international stage.

We attach great importance to the relations of a privileged strategic partnership with India, and I am certain that our consistent efforts to fulfil the agreements resulting from our recent talks in Moscow will contribute to further expanding the multi-faceted cooperation between Russia and India. There is no doubt that this would serve the interests of our friendly nations, while strengthening international stability and security.
