The International Competition "Leader of People's Diplomacy" has started!
Until September 30, the acceptance of applications for the competition of best practices that contribute to strengthening trust, friendship and cooperation between peoples will last.
Citizens of Russia, Russian compatriots living abroad, foreign citizens - representatives of non-governmental organizations, Internet communities implementing projects in the field of public diplomacy are invited.
The competition accepts materials in various areas: cultural, scientific, digital, sports, tourism, business diplomacy, historical memory, volunteering and others.
🔹From October 1 to October 10, an educational intensive will be held for all participants of the competition in an online format
🔹An online workshop will be held for semi-finalists from October 17 to 31, 2022
🔹30 people will enter the final. The results will be summed up within the framework of the International Forum in Perm, Russia

Стартовал Международный конкурс «Лидер народной дипломатии»
До 30 сентября продлится прием заявок на конкурс лучших практик, способствующих укреплению доверия, дружбы и сотрудничества между народами.

🇷🇺 Today is the Diplomatic Worker's Day.
The holiday itself was established in 2002 and for 23 years now it has united many generations of diplomats who have dedicated their lives to defending Russia's interests in the international arena.
📆 The date was not chosen by chance. It was on this day — February 10, 1549 — that the first foreign policy department of Russia — the Ambassadorial Office — was mentioned in the chronicles. Later, under Peter I, it was renamed the Collegium of Foreign Affairs, and in 1802, Alexander I created the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — the predecessor of the modern Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Our diplomats have always defended Russia's interests and their names are forever inscribed in history.

Сам праздник был учрежден в 2002 году и вот уже 23 года объединяет многие поколения дипломатов, посвятивших жизнь отстаиванию интересов России на международной арене.
📆 Дата была выбрана не случайно. Именно в этот день — 10 февраля 1549 года — было упомянуто в летописях первое внешнеполитическое ведомство России — Посольский приказ. Позже, при Петре 1, он был переименован в Коллегию иностранных дел, а в 1802 году Александр 1 создал Министерство иностранных дел — предшественника современного МИДа.

🌐 The All-Union Society for Cultural Relations (VOKS) is the first public organization aimed at establishing scientific and professional ties, as well as promoting Russian culture abroad.
📆 VOKS was created 100 years ago, in 1925. It was founded by the People's Commissariat of Foreign Affairs, the Museum of the Revolution, the Academy of Arts, the USSR Academy of Sciences and other structures. The organization closely cooperated with foreign societies, thereby becoming the first in history to deal with intercultural communications at the state level.
🧐 By the way, the Russian intelligentsia of that time also stood at the origins of VOKS - Vladimir Mayakovsky, Anatoly Lunacharsky, Sergey Prokofiev and others. There was also support abroad. Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Bernard Shaw, Henri Barbusse fully approved of this initiative and, subsequently, became partners of the organization. VOKS, in turn, happily collaborated with and even invited various figures of science and culture to the USSR.
🪖 During World War II, the organization played an important role - through it, medicines and equipment for hospitals, as well as other humanitarian aid were supplied. It was VOKS that managed to unite world cultural figures and, together, raise funds to fight fascism.
⚡️ Already in 1941, similar societies appeared in Syria, Australia, India, New Zealand and a number of other countries, and by 1957, friendship societies of the USSR operated in 47 countries.

📆 ВОКС было создано 100 лет назад, в 1925 году. Его основали Наркоминдел, Музей революции, Академия художеств, Академия наук СССР и другие структуры. Организация плотно сотрудничала с иностранными обществами, тем самым став первой в истории занимавшейся межкультурными коммуникациями на государственном уровне.
🧐 Кстати, у истоков также стояла и русская интеллигенция того времени — В.В. Маяковский, А.В. Луначарский, С.С. Прокофьев и другие. Поддержка была и за рубежом. Альберт Эйнштейн, Мария Кюри, Бернард Шоу, Анри Барбюс всецело одобряли такую инициативу и, в последствие, стали партнерами организации. ВОКС, в свою очередь, с радостью сотрудничало и даже приглашало в СССР различных деятелей науки и культуры.
🪖 Во времена Второй мировой войны организация сыграла немаловажную роль — через нее поставлялись медикаменты и оборудование для госпиталей, а также другая гуманитарная помощь. Именно ВОКС сумело объединить мировых деятелей культуры и, сообща, собирать средства на борьбу с фашизмом.
⚡️ Уже в 1941 году похожие общества появились в Сирии, Австралии, Индии, Новой Зеландии и ряде других стран, а к 1957 году общества дружбы СССР действовали в 47 странах.
