Manpupuner rock formations, Komi
The Manpupuner are mighty stone pillars located in the Northern Urals, which have been recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of Russia.
The pillars were formed over millions of years by the weathering of the Ural Mountains. Other weak rocks collapsed, but these, the harder stones, have survived: hence the name of the miracle of nature.
There are seven pillars in total. Six of them are arranged in a row, and one stands apart. Their height varies from 30 to 42 meters. They all have unusual shapes. Because of the different lighting you can recognize the head of a horse, giants or whatever your imagination can think of.
Earlier this place was considered holy and it was forbidden to come here. There are several legends about this place. For example, in ancient times, the stone pillars were seven giants who went through the mountains to destroy the Vogul people. But upon climbing the plateau, their leader-shaman saw the sacred mountain of Yalping-ner in front of him. Terrified, he threw his drum to the top, and all seven giants petrified in terror. Since then they have stood on this mountain plateau.
It is very difficult to get here, within a radius of 100 kilometers there is not a single settlement. You will have to change a plane or train, two buses to get to the administration of the reserve. And from there by SUV, helicopter, boat or on foot to the poles.

Маньпупунер — могучие каменные столбы, расположенные на Северном Урале, которые были признаны одним из семи чудес России.
Столбы образовались за миллионы лет в результате выветривания Уральских гор. Другие слабые породы разрушились, а эти, более твердые камни, выстояли: отсюда и название чуда природы.
Всего столбов семь. Шесть их них расположены в ряд, а один стоит в стороне. Высота их составляет от 30 до 42 метров. Все они имеют необычные очертания. Из-за различного освещения можно распознать в столбах голову лошади, великанов или что придумает ваше воображение.
Ранее это место считалось святым и ходить сюда было запрещено. Есть несколько легенд об этом месте. Например, в древности каменные столбы были семью великанами, которые шли через горы с целью уничтожить вогульский народ. Но, поднявшись на плато, их вожак-шаман увидел перед собой священную гору Ялпинг-нер. В ужасе он бросил свой барабан на вершину и все семеро великанов окаменели от ужаса. С тех пор так и стоят они на этом горном плато.
Добраться сюда очень тяжело, в радиусе 100 километров нет ни одного поселения. Вам придется сменить самолет или поезд, два автобуса, чтобы добраться до администрации заповедника. А оттуда на внедорожниках, вертолете, лодках или пешком до столбов.
