🚀 An exhibition of children's drawings about space began its work in Kolkata
In the view of the upcoming Cosmonautics Day, Russian House in Kolkata organized an art contest "Space through the eyes of children". On April 6, young artists have been invited to express their vision of space exploration.
More than 100 artworks have been submitted for the contest. Sergey Shushin, director of the Russian House, personally awarded the participants with certificates and souvenirs.
The exhibition is open to public until the Cosmonautics Day, April 12.

Russian diplomats laid flowers to Yury Gagarin memorial in Kolkata
On April 12, Russian diplomats visited the M.P. Birla Planetarium in Kolkata, marking the 63rd anniversary of the first human space flight in the history of mankind, performed by a Soviet cosmonaut Yury Gagarin. Alexey Idamkin, Consul General of Russia, and Sergey Shushin, vice-consul and director of the Russian House, laid flowers and made notes in the visitors book to honor the memory of the first cosmonaut of the world.
On this day, in 1961, Yury Gagarin made an orbital flight around the globe abord the Vostok-1 spaceship and landed safely 108 min later.
The International Day of Human Space Flight is being held annually to mark this milestone of space exploration.

В День космонавтики, 12 апреля, российские дипломаты посетили планетарий имени М.П. Бирлы в Калькутте, по случаю 63-й годовщины первого полёта человека в космос, совершенного советским космонавтом Юрием Гагариным. Генеральный консул России Алексей Идамкин и вице-консул, директор Русского дома Сергей Шушин возложили цветы и оставили записи в книге посетителей, тем самым почтив память первого космонавта мира.
В этот день в 1961 году Юрий Гагарин совершил орбитальный полет вокруг земного шара на борту «Востока-1» и спустя 108 минут благополучно приземлился.

A power amplifier for testing of space crafts has been developed in Chelyabinsk.
Scientists at South Ural State University have developed Russia's first import-substituting electrohydraulic power amplifier. This is a breakthrough in the domestic development of such devices, which is especially important against the background of many companies’ leaving from Russia.
For the first time the layout of the device will be presented at the Innoprom exhibition in Yekaterinburg, and at the end of 2025 a representative of the monitor organization will come from Moscow to Chelyabinsk to assess the performance of the prototypes.

How many monuments to the first cosmonaut Yury Gagarin are there in the world? 🌎
👩🚀 There are about 50 busts and monuments to Yury Gagarin in the world. They are located in different parts of the world as a tribute to the man who first stepped into space. We will tell you about the most unusual monuments to the pilot.
➡️ The first foreign monument to Gagarin was a sculpture erected in 1975 in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. Initially, it stood in front of the Geyser Colonnade, but was later moved to the airport. Today, Gagarin meets and warmly welcomes guests of the city right upon arrival.
✔️ And in Lyubertsy and in London, for example, there is the same monument. The first was built near the school where the pilot studied, and the second was erected in his likeness. The opening of the monument in London was timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Gagarin's visit to Great Britain.
👍 Another monument is located in Houston. It is a "double" of the monument in Kaluga, built in 2011. The copy is located near the former NASA headquarters.

Exhibition of photographs on the first woman in space Valentina Tereshkova opened in Kolkata
On August 8, Russian House in Kolkata presented an exhibition of photographs in celebration of the 61st anniversary of the first flight into space by a female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova. Students of the Institute of Russian Language visited the exhibition.
The exhibition showcases more than hundred photographs depicting different stages of life, activities and achievements of Valentina Tereshkova.
Having flown a solo mission on Vostok 6 on 16 June 1963, Tereshkova orbited the Earth 48 times, spent almost three days in space.
She remains the only woman to have been on a solo space mission.

Scientists from the Rosatom State Corporation have created a laboratory prototype of a plasma electric rocket engine based on a magnetic-plasma accelerator with increased thrust parameters.
Such engines make it possible to accelerate a spacecraft in outer space to speeds that are inaccessible to chemical engines, and also allow for the efficient use of fuel reserves, reducing its need by tens of times.

🚀 Today marks the 60th anniversary of the first human spacewalk. We will tell you about this event.
Alexey Arkhipovich Leonov is no less famous than Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin and Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova. He accomplished a feat by becoming the first person to go into outer space and stayed there for 12 minutes and 9 seconds.
👨🚀 During the flight, in addition to Leonov, there was another pilot on the Voskhod-2 ship - Pavel Ivanovich Belyaev. Special spacesuits were developed especially for their flight, designed for spacewalks and protecting against solar radiation.
The problems began immediately after the crew's launch. Instead of the expected distance from Earth of 300 kilometers, the ship took an orbit of 500 - this is practically a space vacuum. Nevertheless, Leonov successfully went into space, but the return back became a test - the spacesuit swelled and did not fit into the airlock.
🛰 Alexey Arkhipovich did not tell anyone about his difficulties, but decided to reduce the pressure in the spacesuit himself, despite the possible danger to his life. In the end, the decision was successful and he was able to return to the ship without hindrance.
The landing did not go smoothly either. When returning to Earth, the automatic orientation system failed and the crew had to take control into their own hands. The cosmonauts landed in the remote Perm taiga - very far from the planned landing site.
🏆 For the successful completion of the mission, Alexey Arkhipovich received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

Алексей Архипович Леонов известен не менее Юрия Алексеевича Гагарина и Валентины Владимировны Терешковой. Он совершил подвиг, став первым человеком, который вышел в открытый космос и пробыл там 12 минут и 9 секунд.
👨🚀 Во время полета на корабле «Восход-2» помимо Леонова находился еще один пилот — Павел Иванович Беляев. Специально для их полета были разработаны специальные скафандры, предназначенные для выхода в космос и защищающие от излучения Солнца.
Проблемы начались сразу после старта экипажа. Вместо ожидаемой дальности от Земли в 300 километров корабль занял орбиту в 500 — это практически космический вакуум. Тем не менее, Леонов удачно вышел в космос, но возвращение назад стало испытанием — скафандр раздулся и не влезал в шлюз.
🛰 Алексей Архипович не стал никому говорить о своих трудностях, а решил сам снизить давление в скафандре, несмотря на возможную опасность для его жизни. В итоге, решение было удачным и он смог беспрепятственно вернуться на корабль.
Приземление также не прошло гладко. При возвращении на Землю отказала система автоматической ориентации и экипажу пришлось брать управление в свои руки. Приземлились космонавты в глухой Пермской тайге — очень далеко от запланированного места посадки.
🏆 За успешное выполнение миссии Алексей Архипович получил звание Героя Советского Союза, а также орден Ленина и медаль «Золотая Звезда».

The problems began immediately after the crew's launch. Instead of the expected distance from Earth of 300 kilometers, the ship took an orbit of 500 - this is practically a space vacuum. Nevertheless, Leonov successfully went into space, but the return back became a test - the spacesuit swelled and did not fit into the airlock.
🛰 Alexey Arkhipovich did not tell anyone about his difficulties, but decided to reduce the pressure in the spacesuit himself, despite the possible danger to his life. In the end, the decision was successful and he was able to return to the ship without hindrance.
The landing did not go smoothly either. When returning to Earth, the automatic orientation system failed and the crew had to take control into their own hands. The cosmonauts landed in the remote Perm taiga - very far from the planned landing site.
🏆 For the successful completion of the mission, Alexey Arkhipovich received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, as well as the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

Алексей Архипович Леонов известен не менее Юрия Алексеевича Гагарина и Валентины Владимировны Терешковой. Он совершил подвиг, став первым человеком, который вышел в открытый космос и пробыл там 12 минут и 9 секунд.
👨🚀 Во время полета на корабле «Восход-2» помимо Леонова находился еще один пилот — Павел Иванович Беляев. Специально для их полета были разработаны специальные скафандры, предназначенные для выхода в космос и защищающие от излучения Солнца.
Проблемы начались сразу после старта экипажа. Вместо ожидаемой дальности от Земли в 300 километров корабль занял орбиту в 500 — это практически космический вакуум. Тем не менее, Леонов удачно вышел в космос, но возвращение назад стало испытанием — скафандр раздулся и не влезал в шлюз.
🛰 Алексей Архипович не стал никому говорить о своих трудностях, а решил сам снизить давление в скафандре, несмотря на возможную опасность для его жизни. В итоге, решение было удачным и он смог беспрепятственно вернуться на корабль.
Приземление также не прошло гладко. При возвращении на Землю отказала система автоматической ориентации и экипажу пришлось брать управление в свои руки. Приземлились космонавты в глухой Пермской тайге — очень далеко от запланированного места посадки.
🏆 За успешное выполнение миссии Алексей Архипович получил звание Героя Советского Союза, а также орден Ленина и медаль «Золотая Звезда».
