๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ #OTD in 2000, Russia and India signed the Declaration on Strategic Partnership.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The document took #RussiaIndia traditionally friendly relations to a new level characterized by coordinated approaches towards addressing major global and regional issues.
๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ On August 22, Russia celebrates National Flag Day, established by Presidential Executive Order On National Flag Day of the Russian Federation dated August 20, 1994.

#OTD, we pay tribute to the official state symbol of Russia, which, along with its emblem and anthem, marks its sovereignty and independence, and reaffirms the continuity of many generations of the countryโ€™s multiethnic people.

โš“๏ธ The Russian tricolor is more than three centuries old. Peter the Great is considered the creator: in 1705, he issued an order according to which they should raise a white-blue-and-red flag โ€œon all merchant ships.โ€ However, it was only given official national flag status in 1896, on the eve of the coronation of Nicholas II.

On December 25, 2000, the Federal Constitutional Law On the State Flag of the Russian Federation was adopted, under which the state flag of Russia was a rectangular panel of three equal horizontal stripes: the top one was white, the middle one was blue and the bottom one was red.

โšช๏ธ๐Ÿ”ต๐Ÿ”ด It is believed that white represents peace and dignity; blue, loyalty and honesty; and red, courage and valour.

Today, the tricolor has firmly become part of our lives as an integral element of Russian statehood, a symbol of the unity of the people, their devotion to the Fatherland, and their readiness to defend Russiaโ€™s national interests.

๐Ÿ“Œ In memory of Nikolai Gogol, an annual literary award is held in St Petersburg since 2003, while the Nikitsky Boulevard in Moscow hosts Gogol's House, which houses a memorial museum and a scientific library.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ On August 15, the Republic of India marks #IndependenceDay. #OTD in 1947 the Indian Independence Act came into being, crowning the decades of the Indian peopleโ€™s hard struggle against the oppression of the British colonisers for the right to determine their own destiny.

Over the years of independence, the Indian nation has reached significant success in the economic, scientific, technical and social areas, preserving its strong identity based on the centuries-long history and rich cultural heritage.

India enjoys well-deserved authority in the world arena, playing a major constructive role in international affairs.

๐Ÿค Diplomatic relations between our country and India were established on April 13, 1947. The USSR made a significant contribution to the industrialisation of India as well as to the development of its economic and scientific potential.

๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ The friendly Russian-Indian ties are based on equality, mutual respect and trust. Today, our relations can be defined as a special and privileged strategic partnership. We maintain an intensive political dialogue, and take efforts to strengthen cooperation within multilateral formats and improve trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

๐ŸŽ‰ We cordially congratulate our Indian friends on Independence Day and wish them prosperity and well-being.
