Russian fashion designer Vyacheslav Zaitsev turns 85!
Vyacheslav (Slava) Zaitsev, one of the most significant Russian designers, was the first to boldly declare that fashion exists in Soviet Russia, and at a very high level.
Vyacheslav was born in the city of Ivanovo on March 2, 1938. After graduating from the Moscow Textile Institute, he worked at an experimental workwear factory. He decorated overalls, quilted jackets, quilted jackets, but the methodological department did not accept his ideas. However, the Western press noticed a talented young man, and a fashionable French magazine published his work. Vyacheslav Zaitsev was recognized as equal to Christian Dior and Pierre Cardin.
Since the 1960s, his outfits have been regularly shown in the USA, Canada, Japan, however, without the presence of the author. His most famous collections are the Millennium of the Baptism of Rus' and the Russian Series. After his shows in Europe, the fashion for luxury and Russian style revived, and Zaitsev himself was awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of Paris".
The couturier's national recognition increased when he began dressing the champions of the Russian figure skating team, flight attendants and stewards of Aeroflot, and the Russian team at the Olympic Games in Moscow in 1980 and then in Sarajevo in 1984. Vyacheslav Zaitsev is also famous for his costumes for the performances of leading Russian theaters, as well as scenery and costumes for cinema.

Знаменит Вячеслав Зайцев и своими костюмами для спектаклей ведущих российских театров, а также декорациями и костюмами для кино.

Saint Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design (“PROMTECHDESIGN” University) announces the start of registration for the Olympiad in the set of disciplines “Culture and Art” https://olimp.prouniver.ru/
Winners and runners-up among foreign citizens will get a quota (scholarship) for free university education by the Government of the Russian Federation.
The Olympiad comprises two tracks; you can participate in both of them simultaneously:
- Academic drawing, painting, composition, history of art and culture
(for the following educational programs: Design, Decorative and Monumental Art, Graphics (Animation and Computer Graphics (computer games)
- Technical drawing and decorative composition
(for the following educational programs: Art of Costume and Textile, Design of Light Industry Products, Technology of Light Industry Products, Technologies and Design of Textile Products, Decorative and Applied Arts and Crafts, Technology of Artistic Processing of Materials, Technology of Printing and Packaging Production, Information Systems and Technologies, Applied Computer Science (in Design)
Graduates of schools and colleges can take part in the Olympiad.

The XXX International Festival of Fashion, Art and Design "Admiralty Needle" will be held in St. Petersburg from October 14 to 17, 2024. The main organizer and founder of the festival is the St. Petersburg State University of Industrial Technologies and Design.
🌎 During the festival week, the following will take place:
* Festival opening
* Retrospective show of the best participants and winners of the Admiralty Needle over the past 30 years!
* Fashion illustration exhibition
* Retro fashion graphics exhibition
* Showroom of collections of the Admiralty Needle finalists
* Master classes, trainings and group discussions from the world's leading professionals in the field of fashion and design
* VIP show from the best foreign designers
* Gala final
* Award ceremony
Participation in the Admiralty Needle will help talented designers find their niche in the modern fashion industry and win the main prize of 500,000 rubles!
The designers' work will be evaluated by members of the Expert Council: fashion professionals, famous cultural and art figures from different countries.
Any designer between 16 and 40 years old can take part. Participation is free for everyone.
All designers who submit applications will receive certificates of participation in the competition in electronic form.
Competition stages:
- Submission of applications online from 1.07 to 19.09.2024
- Final in St. Petersburg from 14-17 October 2024
