Talks, verses and lyrics against violence of fascism: Progress Literary club held a celebratory session dedicated to the Victory Day and Rabindra Jayanti
On 12 May 2022, Russian House in Kolkata hosted a special session of the Progress Literary club within the framework of the newly inaugurated art exhibition "Victory over fascism". The session was dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and to the 161st birth anniversary of a Bengali polymath Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941).
The session has been presided by a prominent Bengali novelist and film maker Shahzad Firdaus. Members of the literary club spoke on the contribution of Tagore's philosophy and creative works towards building of a safer environment. The speakers have noted the pacifist and anti-nationalist views of Tagore.

Peoples of Russia: Chechens
Chechens are one of the oldest peoples of the North Caucasus, who settled on this territory back in the 13th century. According to the 2010 census, 1 million 431 thousand Chechens live in Russia.
The self-name of Chechens is "Nohchy" and it unites both mountain dwellers and plain dwellers. Since old times the main occupation of Chechens has been cattle breeding, hunting, beekeeping and bread making. Women did household chores, wove cloth, made carpets, and sewed shoes and garments.
The notion of the teip was of tremendous importance in Chechen culture. It is a clan and territorial association of people united by a common ancestor. It is not something one chooses, but one should be proud of it. Each teip has its own clan territory, a mountain, a tower, a cemetery. There are now about 200 teips in all.
One of the most interesting dishes of Chechen cuisine is zhizhig-galnash - pieces of boiled meat with dumplings of wheat or corn flour. The dish is eaten hot, the meat is dipped in garlic sauce and drunk in broth poured into bowls.

Главным занятием чеченцев издавна было скотоводство, охота, пчеловодство и хлебопашество. Женщины работали по хозяйству, ткали сукно, изготавливали ковры, шили обувь и платья. Очень важным для чеченской культуры является понятие «тейп». Это родовое и территориальное объединение людей, связанных общими предками. Его не выбирают, но им нужно гордиться. У каждого тейпа есть своя родовая территория, тейповая гора, башня, кладбище. Всего сейчас существует около 200 тейпов.
Одним из самых интересных блюд чеченской кухни является Жижиг-галнаш - куски отварного мяса с клёцками из пшеничной или кукурузной муки. Блюдо едят горячим, мясо макают в чесночный соус и запивают бульоном, разлитым по пиалам.

A conference dedicated to the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held in Athens on May 12. The event was attended by Russian and Greek political scientists, lawyers, historians, diplomats, journalists and members of the public, including Russian Ambassador to Greece Andrei Maslov, Professor of the University of Thessaloniki Georgios Margaritis and research scientist at the Russian State Archive of Social and Political History Tatiana Tsarevskaya-Dyakina.

Russia sent humanitarian aid to the DPR and LPR
On May 12, the Lipetsk Region sent more than 200 tons of humanitarian aid to the residents of Donbass. The cargo included medicines, personal hygiene products, building materials, fuels and lubricants, foodstuff, including honey and sweets.
Also, about 10 tons of humanitarian cargo were sent from Kaluga to the DPR and LPR. It included baby food, personal hygiene products, foodstuff, including cereals, sugar, salt, flour and drinking water.
