The Russian Geographical Society and Rossotrudnichestvo invite those wishing to take part in the international educational campaign "Geographical Dictation".

October 30 at 12:00 (Moscow time) it will be possible to write it in person. Later in the day, an online version of the dictation will be released and will be available until November 10th. It will be possible to participate in the action in Russian houses abroad. For overseas audiences, assignments will be available in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Arabic and Serbian.

This year the dictation will be held under the slogan: “My land. My country. My discoveries. A special place is occupied by questions on the geography of Russia related to painting, music, literature and folk art. The first part of 10 questions is a “geographical educational program” based on well-known facts from geography. The second part of 30 questions will require you to apply imaginative thinking, logic and erudition.

30 октября в 12:00 (по Москве) его можно будет написать очно. Позже в этот же день появится онлайн-версия диктанта, которая будет доступна до 10 ноября. Поучаствовать в акции можно будет в Русских домах за рубежом. Для зарубежной аудитории задания будут доступных на английском, испанском, французском, китайском, арабском и сербском языках.

В этом году диктант пройдёт под слоганом: «Мой край. Моя страна. Мои открытия». Особое место занимают вопросы по географии России, связанные с живописью, музыкой, литературой и народным творчеством. On October 30, at 12:00 IST it will be possible to write it in person. Later in the day, an online version of the dictation will be released and will be available until November 10. Question papers will be available in English or Russian languages.
This year, the dictation will be held under the slogan: «My land. My country. My discoveries». Participation is free. All participants will receive certificates. Limited seats.

Event schedule (Indian Time):
11:00 - start of site operation;
11:00 - 12:00 - arrival, registration of participants and issue of forms for writing Dictation;
12:00 - 12:15 - briefing on filling out forms for writing Dictation;
12:15 - 13:00 - writing Dictation;
13:00 - 13:10 - collecting completed forms for writing Dictation;
13:10 - closure of the site.

Did you know that over 2.4 million people around the world have become participants in the 7️⃣ years of the Geographical Dictation?🌍

They tested their knowledge of geography on all continents, and even in Antarctica. The action took place at two Russian Antarctic stations - Progress and Mirny.

Aboard the 🛰International Space Station, the Geographic Dictation was written by 👩‍🚀Russian cosmonauts Pyotr Dubrov and Anton Shkaplerov.

Geographical Dictation premieres in Kolkata

Today, Russian House in Kolkata joined the international educational campaign "Geographical Dictation" and held it on site for the first time.

Sergey Shushin, head of the Russian House in Kolkata, delivered the welcome address and conveyed his best wishes to the participants of the Geographical Dictation.

For the first time, the Geographical Dictation was held in 2015 at the initiative of Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Russian Geographical Society.

Love for geography unites people of different professions and ages. Traditionally, cosmonauts working on the International Space Station and employees of the Antarctic Station take part in the event too. Their video address was demonstrated on the site.

In person and remotely at all sites in all countries, the campaign will begin on October 30 at 12:00 local time. From 14:00 on October 30 to 14:00 on November 10, Moscow time, it will be possible to write an online version of the dictation on the website https://dictant.rgo.ru/

Географический диктант впервые прошёл в Калькутте

30 октября 2022 года Русский Дом в Калькутте впервые присоединился к международной просветительской акции «Географический диктант».

С приветственным словом и пожеланиями участникам Географического диктанта выступил глава Русского дома в Калькутте Сергей Владиславович Шушин.

Впервые Географический диктант был проведен в 2015 году по инициативе Владимира Путина, председателя Попечительского совета Русского географического общества.

Любовь к географии объединяет людей разных профессий и возрастов. Традиционно в мероприятии принимают участие космонавты, работающие на Международной космической станции, и сотрудники Антарктической станции. Их видеообращение было продемонстрировано на площадке.

Очно и дистанционно на всех площадках во всех странах акция начнётся 30 октября в 12:00 по местному времени. С 14:00 30 октября до 14:00 10 ноября по московскому времени можно будет написать онлайн-версию диктанта на сайте https://dictant.rgo.ru/.

The Russian Geographical Society plans to launch a tour to Franz Josef Land in 2023. Tourists will be able to participate in the RGS expedition and engage in research with scientists, including geo- and biomonitoring. The expedition is being conducted in collaboration with the Northern Fleet and is based at the year-round base of the national park "Russian Arctic". The "Russian Arctic" National Park is the northernmost and largest specially protected natural area in Russia, including the Franz Josef Land archipelago and the northern part of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.

Туристы смогут принять участие в экспедиции РГО и заниматься исследованиями вместе с учеными, включая гео- и биомониторинг. ⚡️ On September 4, the crew of the Russian Ocean Way round-the-world expedition was attacked by cookiecutter sharks. The rear left cylinder of the catamaran was damaged, after which it completely submerged under water. The travelers stayed in a state of emergency for about a day, they managed to walk about a hundred miles.

On September 5, the ship was again attacked by sharks and bit through the right cylinder. The catamaran lost its balance and began to sink. The team consisting of Evgeny Kovalevsky, Stanislav Beryozkin and Vincent Thomas Etienne gave an SOS signal.

The head of the coastal headquarters, Yulia Kalyuzhnaya, contacted the Australian rescue service, and after 45 minutes, the dry cargo ship Dugong Ace, bound for Shanghai, came to the rescue.

It was not possible to evacuate the catamaran. The team is now on a rescue ship that will take them to Brisbane.

⚡️ 4 сентября на экипаж кругосветной экспедиции Russian Ocean Way напали акулы кукикаттеры. Задний левый баллон катамарана получил повреждения, после чего он полностью погрузился под воду. Путешественники продержались в аварийном состоянии около суток, им удалось пройти примерно сто миль.

5 сентября судно снова атаковали акулы и прокусили правый баллон. Катамаран потерял равновесие и начал тонуть. Команда в составе Евгения Ковалевского, Станислава Берёзкина и Винсента Томаса Этьен подала сигнал SOS.

Руководитель берегового штаба Юлия Калюжная связалась со спасательной службой Австралии, и уже через 45 минут на помощь пришел сухогруз Dugong Ace, следующий до Шанхая.

Эвакуировать катамаран не удалось. Сейчас команда находится на спасательном корабле, который доставит их в Брисбен.

On November 30, at the online meeting “Public Council Day under Rossotrudnichestvo,” First Deputy Executive Director of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) Ilya Gurov spoke about the organization’s international initiatives and opportunities for partnership. About a hundred people from all over the world joined the event.

The moderator of the meeting, Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Dmitry Polikanov, noted that for many years the Agency has been actively cooperating with the Russian Geographical Society within the framework of the Geographical Dictation, Geography Night projects, youth clubs of the Russian Geographical Society and the New Generation program. For example, over the 10 years of the event, more than a million people around the world tested their knowledge in the field of geography with the support of Rossotrudnichestvo.

🔄 Ilya Gurov noted that the Russian Geographical Society is one of the oldest public organizations involved in public diplomacy. According to the speaker, the “revival era” of the Russian Geographical Society began in 2009. Among the main areas of work, he highlighted holding international events and exhibitions, opening foreign centers, creating historical films, and preparing for the World Youth Festival. The plans include the development of educational tourism in Russia, including for foreign audiences, as well as the organization of volunteer camps in Russian protected areas as part of the “New Generation” program.

🌐 30 ноября на онлайн-встрече «День Общественного совета при Россотрудничестве» первый заместитель исполнительного директора Русского географического общества (РГО) Илья Гуров рассказал о международных инициативах организации и возможностях для партнерства. К событию присоединились около сотни человек со всего мира.

Модератор встречи — заместитель руководителя Россотрудничества Дмитрий Поликанов — отметил, что на протяжении многих лет Агентство активно сотрудничает с РГО в рамках проектов «Географический диктант», «Ночь географии», молодежных клубов РГО и программы «Новое поколение». Так, например, свои знания в области географии при поддержке Россотрудничества за 10 лет проведения акции проверили более миллиона человек по всему миру.

🔄 Илья Гуров отметил, что Русское географическое общество — одна из старейших общественных организаций, занимающихся публичной дипломатией. По словам спикера, «эпоха возрождения» РГО началась в 2009 году. Среди основных направлений работы он выделил проведение международных акций и выставок, открытие зарубежных центров, создание исторических фильмов, подготовку ко Всемирному фестивалю молодежи. В планах — развитие познавательного туризма в России, в том числе для иностранной аудитории, а также организация волонтерских лагерей в российских заповедных зонах в рамках программы «Новое поколение».
