One of Moscow's main symbols is the Ostankino TV tower, whose spire can be seen from any part of the capital. Today, on the birthday of the place, we tell you the most interesting facts about it:
- The author of the design of the Ostankino TV tower, the main building of Moscow State University and the monument 'Motherland Calls' is the same person, Nikolai Nikitin;
- The Ostankino TV tower weighs 32 000 tons which is comparable to the weight of 400 000 aircraft or 179 000 whales;
- The height of the building is comparable to the height of a 180-storey house. There are only 45 floors in the Ostankino TV tower itself;
- The lift in Ostankino self-regulates its speed depending on whether the tower is swaying in the wind or not;
- The Ostankino TV tower is struck by lightning 30-40 times a year. For comparison, the chance of a tree being struck by lightning is 0.139%;
- Contrary to public opinion, nothing is filmed in the Ostankino TV tower itself. There are plenty of studios around which allow it.

🤝 Producers, journalists and other media specialists from Syria exchanged experience with Russian colleagues as part of the “New Generation” program.
📇 In the RT Arabic editorial office, participants got acquainted with the work of editors, simultaneous interpreters and other employees of the TV channel, and also met with the authors and producers of the documentary project RT Doc.
📺 At the Ostankino television center, the Syrians visited the filming of “Field of Miracles”, tried themselves as hosts of the program “Good night, kids!”, and visited the studios of political talk shows. The specialists spent most of their time in the news block of the NTV channel, where they took part in the recording of the program “Results with Irada Zeynalova.” Participants noted that their television center does not have recording facilities of this size, there is no practice of going live for different time zones, and the technical equipment of the studios is approximately the same.

🤝 Продюсеры, журналисты и другие медиаспециалисты из Сирии обменялись опытом с российскими коллегами в рамках программы «Новое поколение».
📇 В редакции RT Arabic участники познакомились с работой редакторов, синхронных переводчиков и других сотрудников телеканала, а также встретились с авторами и продюсерами документального проекта RT Doc.
📺 В телецентре «Останкино» сирийцы побывали на съемках «Поле чудес», попробовали себя в роли ведущих передачи «Спокойной ночи, малыши!», посетили студии политических ток-шоу. Больше всего времени специалисты провели в новостном блоке телеканала НТВ, где приняли участие в записи программы «Итоги с Ирадой Зейналовой». Участники отметили, что в их телецентре нет такого размера помещений для записи, нет практики выхода в прямой эфир для разных часовых поясов, а техническое оснащение студий примерно одинаковое.
