Ivan Kupala Day is an ancient pagan and folk holiday. It was originally timed to coincide with the summer solstice. Now every year it is celebrated on July 7.
Ivan Kupala was considered in Russia a "loving", "cheerful", "clean" holiday. According to the legend, only on this day ferns bloom, which "light a girl's heart with lights for love". In addition, it was customary to swim in rivers, wash with healing dew, lead round dances, sing and dance.
One of the main attributes of the holiday is a bonfire. It was necessary to dilute it only by friction and after sunset. And it was supposed to burn until dawn. It was believed that fire has healing power, and jumping through it helps to get rid of everything bad. If during the jump a girl and a young man do not stop holding each other's hand, then this is for an early wedding. A good sign is if sparks from the fire fly after the couple.
Wreaths were considered another important symbol. The girls wove them from herbs and decorated them with colored ribbons. On the holiday, the future brides let them on the water. If the wreath floats well, then the young lady will soon get married. If it is spinning on the spot or drowning, then you cannot wait for the wedding in the near future.

💞 Иван Купала считался на Руси «любовным», «веселым», «чистоплотным» праздником. По легенде, только в этот день расцветают папоротники, которые «сердце девичье огнями зажигают на любовь». Кроме того, было принято купаться в реках, умываться целебной росой, водить хороводы, петь и танцевать.
🔥 Один из главных атрибутов праздника — это костер. Развести его нужно было только трением и после захода солнца. А гореть он должен был до рассвета. Считалось, что огонь обладает целебной силой, а прыжки через него помогают очиститься от всего плохого. Если во время прыжка девушка и юноша не перестают держать друг друга за руку, то это к скорой свадьбе. Хорошая примета — если вслед паре полетят искры от костра.
🌺 Еще одним важным символом считались венки. Девушки плели их из трав и украшали цветными лентами. В праздник будущие невесты пускали их на воду. Если венок хорошо плывет, то молодая особа скоро выйдет замуж. Если крутится на месте или тонет, то свадьбы в ближайшее время можно не ждать.

At the beginning of the excavations, scientists determined that about 15 species of sharks lived here, but now they are sure that there were more than 30 of them. There were other finds: lizard bones, paws, vertebrae and a large piece of petrified wood.

🇮🇳 Indian schoolchildren dived into the Russian culture in Altai 🏔

On 21 July, three Indian participants of the "Hello, Russia!" trip to the Altai Territory visited the art school "Tradition" in Vlasikha village. There, thet have been greated as guests of honor with traditional bread and salt, learned the structure of the Russian wooden house and made small Shrovetide doll - a travel companion to ensure them a good trip.

The visit was organized in the framework of the VII International Festival "Summer Conversations in Altai". Young Russian compatriots from 12 countries of the world learned a couple of folk games.

The "Hello, Russia!" trip organized by the Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency helps children from the Russian diaspora of different countries to immerse into the Russian culture and learn a lot about the country through they own experience.

🇮🇳 Индийские школьники погрузились в русскую культуру на Алтае 🏔

21 июля трое индийских участников поездки «Здравствуй, Россия!» в Алтайский край посетили школу искусств «Традиция» в селе Власиха. Там их встретили как почетных гостей традиционным хлебом-солью, знакомили с устройством русской избы и научили делать маленькую масленичную куклу - подорожницу.

Визит в школу искусств организован в рамках VII Международного фестиваля «Летние беседы на Алтае». Юные российские соотечественники из 12 стран мира разучили пару народных игр.

Программа поездок «Здравствуй, Россия!», организованная Федеральным агентством "Россотрудничество", помогает молодым соотечественникам, живущим в разных странах мира, погрузиться в русскую культуру и узнать много нового о России на собственном опыте.

☀️ On August 2, the international session "Artek, add me as a friend" at the Artek children's camp has ended. It was attended by children from 52 countries, including the program "Hello, Russia!".

At the “Meeting before parting”, each Artek resident became a participant in the play “The House of My Heart”. Also, creative teams from different countries and the Big Children's Choir performed for the children. In addition, the children were presented with the main award of the center - the sign of public recognition "Star of Artek". And from the main stage they read the manifesto of "Peace and Friendship", which was adopted at the round table "Club of Friends of Russia".

💬 “At Artek, I learned to work in a team, work hard, respect every deed. Most of all I remember the extras, a trip to Ayu-Dag and a trip to Sevastopol. "Artek" for me is the best camp in the world. I wish those children who want to get here to work hard on themselves, have no regrets, go towards their goal and not lose heart,” Valery from South Ossetia shared his impressions.

☀️ 2 августа завершилась международная смена «Артек, добавь в друзья». В ней приняли участие ребята из 52 стран, в том числе по программе «Здравствуй, Россия!».

На «Встрече перед расставанием» каждый артековец стал участником спектакля «Дом моего сердца». Также перед ребятами выступили творческие коллективы из разных стран и Большой детский хор. Кроме того, детям вручили главную награду центра — знак общественного признания «Звезда Артека». А с главной сцены зачитали манифест «Мира и дружбы», который приняли на круглом столе «Клуб друзей России».

💬 «В "Артеке" я научился работать в команде, усердно трудиться, уважать каждый поступок. Больше всего мне запомнились массовка, поход на Аю-Даг и поездка в Севастополь. "Артек" для меня является самым лучшим лагерем в мире. Я пожелаю тем детям, которые хотят сюда попасть, усердно работать над собой, ни о чем не жалеть, идти к своей цели и не унывать», — поделился впечатлениями Валерий из Южной Осетии.
