Ergaki Nature Park, Waterfall Marble, Lake of Artists
Ergaki Nature Park is a mountainous area in the south of the Krasnoyarsk region. The length of the park is about 80 kilometers, and the area is 342,000 hectares. The territory is formed by one of the ridges of the Western Sayan, which is also called the "Pearl of Siberia". Here lies the dense taiga, majestic mountain ranges, and crystal clear mountain lakes. Tuvan shamans consider this area sacred.
There are many legends and beliefs around the fabulous area of the park. It was believed that once upon a time the gods rested here, bringing with them toys made of stone. Another legend says that the rocks directed to the sky are the fingers of the proud, turned into stone by the gods. This belief formed the basis of the park’s name, "Ergaki" in Turkic means "fingers".
The highest peaks in the park are Aradansky (2466 meters) and Zvyozdny (2265 meters). The beauty of the lakes is emphasized in the names: Rainbow, Marble, Light, Golden. The Lake of Artists is a special place for a natural park. Since the beginning of the last century, for the sake of the beauties of its amazing landscape, artists came here to save what they saw on canvas. That is why the lake got its name.
