Russian House in Kolkata celebrated the 185th birth anniversary of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
On May 15, a gala event dedicated to the 185th birth anniversary of the great Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was held at the Russian House in Kolkata. The festive program brought together fans of classical music, art and Russian culture.
A photo exhibition dedicated to the life and creative path of Tchaikovsky was organized as part of the evening. The exhibition included rare archival photographs, portraits of the composer, photographs of places associated with his life and work, as well as facts about his famous works.
In his welcoming speech, Director of the Russian House Sergey Shushin noted Tchaikovsky's exclusive place among world composers.
Fragments of the ballet "Swan Lake", one of Tchaikovsky's most famous works, were shown to the audience. The video installation allowed them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of classical Russian ballet and feel the magic of the composer's music.
The event culminated in a concert where famous works by Tchaikovsky were performed by students of the Musicea Art and Culture Council.
The Russian House in Kolkata continues the tradition of popularizing Russian art abroad and expresses gratitude to all participants and guests for their interest in the work of the great composer.

📍 A memorial to the Allied forces who liberated Europe during World War I has been erected in the city of Liege, Belgium.
The monument, created by father and son Alexander and Igor Burganov, is part of a memorial erected in 1968.
➡️ Before the main monument, there was a memorial erected in 1937. It was destroyed during World War II, so seven Entente countries donated monuments to the city. Russia presented the sculpture "To Russian and Soviet soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars."
In the center of the composition is a Russian monument erected in 2001 with the support of the Center for the Preservation of Russian Military Graves Abroad under the Russian Ministry of Culture. The inscription in Russian and French is engraved on the base: "To Russian and Soviet soldiers who died during the First and Second World Wars."
🔨 Over time, the monument required restoration. Its project was developed by the Belgian Federation of Russian-Speaking Organizations and the non-profit association "Meridian" with the support of the Russian Embassy in Belgium and local authorities.

• teachers (mainly computer science teachers) – more than 1,000 (plan for 2025, coverage in 2024 – more than 1,500 people)
Participation in the Olympiad is free. Travel to and from the venue of the in-person final stage, and accommodation for schoolchildren selected for the final stage of the Olympiad, as well as for their accompanying persons, are provided at the expense of the organizers of the Olympiad.
Winners and prize winners receive advantages when entering universities. More than 50 specialized universities, including ITMO University (St. Petersburg), MIPT (Moscow), HSE (Moscow) give additional points for the Olympiad on artificial intelligence upon admission.
For participants of the final stage, excursions to IT companies and lectures are held to familiarize themselves with the achievements of scientific and industrial partners in the field of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Russian schoolchildren win gold at the International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry
In 2025, 40 countries of the world are taking part in the Mendeleev Olympiad.
The entire Russian team — 10 people — received gold medals at the 59th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad for schoolchildren. It started on May 6 in Belo Horizonte (Brazil).
The number of gold medals for Russians was a record. In 2024, representatives of the country won five gold and a similar number of silver medals.
Gold was received by Andrey Varaksin (Magnitogorsk), Viktor Demidov (Moscow), Vladimir Elistratov (Moscow), Yaroslav Kosolapov (Magnitogorsk), Fedor Kuznetsov (Moscow), Nikita Maslyuk (Krasnodar), Pavel Revzin (St. Petersburg), Albert Semenov (Kazan), Igor Ustinov (Moscow) and Rashit Faskhutdinov (Kazan).

Российские школьники выиграли золото на международной Менделеевской олимпиаде
В 2025 году в Менделеевской олимпиаде принимают участие 40 стран мира.
Вся сборная России — 10 человек — получила золотые медали на 59-й Международной Менделеевской олимпиаде школьников по химии. Она стартовала 6 мая в Белу-Оризонти (Бразилия).
Количество золотых медалей для россиян стало рекордным. В 2024 году представители страны выиграли пять золотых и аналогичное число серебряных наград.
Золото получили Андрей Вараксин (Магнитогорск), Виктор Демидов (Москва), Владимир Елистратов (Москва), Ярослав Косолапов (Магнитогорск), Федор Кузнецов (Москва), Никита Маслюк (Краснодар), Павел Ревзин (Санкт-Петербург), Альберт Семенов (Казань), Игорь Устинов (Москва) и Рашит Фасхутдинов (Казань).

Russia to introduce mandatory online registration for incoming foreigners from June 30
‼️For foreign citizens arriving in Russia on a visa-free basis, mandatory registration via the "Gosuslugi RuID" application will be introduced from June 30. This is the second part of the pilot project to modernize the rules for entry and exit of foreign citizens.
✔️Before entering the Russian Federation, they are required to register in the Gosuslugi RuID mobile application and create a personal account.
✔️You must submit an application and receive a QR code via the application no later than 72 hours before entering the Russian Federation. The received code must be presented when crossing the border. The application is valid for 90 days
✔️To register, you must upload a photo and personal data, as well as indicate the expected dates of stay.
✔️In emergency cases, such as illness or death of a relative, the application can be submitted at least 4 hours before arrival.
✔️Children under 6 years old and those entering with a visa or with a temporary residence permit/residence permit, as well as citizens of Belarus, are exempt from registration.
✔️For children aged 6 to 18, an application must be submitted by parents or legal guardians, provided that they have their own valid entry permit.
The experimental regime will last until June 30, 2026.
As part of the first part of the project, from December 1, 2024, all foreign citizens arriving or leaving Russia through the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, Zhukovsky airports, as well as through the Mashtakovo automobile checkpoint (Orenburg Region), are required to undergo a biometric control procedure, including photography and fingerprinting. From June 30, the same changes will be introduced at all checkpoints across the Russian border.

Экспериментальный режим продлится до 30 июня 2026 года.
В рамках первой части проекта с 1 декабря 2024 года все иностранные граждане, прибывающие или покидающие Россию через аэропорты Шереметьево, Домодедово, Внуково, Жуковский, а также через автомобильный пункт пропуска Маштаково (Оренбургская область), обязаны проходить процедуру биометрического контроля, включая фотографирование и дактилоскопию. С 30 июня такие же изменения вводятся на всех пунктах пропуска через российскую границу.
