On July 8th, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness. 👪
In 2022, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, this holiday received an official status. On this day, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the day of memory of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom, who since ancient times were considered in Russia as the patrons of the family and marriage.
A daisy is a symbol of the holiday, since it's believed to be the flower of purity and fidelity.

On July 8, Russia celebrates the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity. The date coincides with the Day of Saints Peter and Fevronia of Murom. Orthodox spouses are considered a symbol of an ideal relationship.
According to the legend, Peter fell ill, and Fevronia promised to cure him if he married her. Peter agreed and kept his promise.
The newlyweds left for Murom. Peter gained power in the town after the death of his brother Paul. However, they had to leave Murom — the boyars did not like the princess. But the nobles asked the family to return and take power into their own hands.
Peter and Fevronia arrived in Murom and lived happily. They wanted to be buried together after death, but this did not happen. The deceased spouses were buried twice in different places, but each time they ended up in the same coffin. Then it was decided to bury them together.
In 2008, the Day of Family, Love and Fidelity was established. The daisy was chosen as the symbol of the holiday. According to the legend, this is the flower of reconciliation. A medal was released especially for the holiday. On one side of it are depicted Peter and Fevronia, and on the other — a daisy. By tradition, the medal is awarded to families in which love and mutual understanding reign.

В 2008 году учрежден День семьи, любви и верности. Символом праздника была выбрана ромашка. Согласно легенде, это цветок примирения. Специально к празднику была выпущена медаль. С одной стороны от него изображены Петр и Феврония, а с другой — ромашка. По традиции медалью вручают семьи, в которых царит любовь и взаимопонимание.

The participants carried the flags of Cyprus, Greece, Russia, as well as flags with the tricolor emblem of the traditional family “Mom, Dad, I am a happy family”, which became a symbol of the unification of the citizens of Cyprus in defense against Western encroachments on the rights of families and children. People chanted: "Hands off our children and education!"
The protesters opposed mandatory comprehensive sexuality education, from preschools to high schools in private and public schools. The country's parliament and the president approved this document, following the recommendations of the EU. The law does not take into account the religious or other beliefs and opinions of parents. 👨👩👧👦
💬“Russia is the first in the world that, as a state, is fighting for the preservation of traditional values based on the dominant religion in the country – Orthodox. Russia has protected the right of the family in law. It is the only country that is fighting against Satanism, for the opportunity to have these rights for all countries around the world,” said Vladimiros Gorin, representative of the Youth Club of Russian Compatriots of Cyprus.
The action was organized by the Active Citizens party with the support of the Coordinating Council of Russian Compatriots of Cyprus.
